Embedded Software Engineer – C++ Location: Breda, Netherlands Experience: 5+ years About the role We are looking for an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to strengthen our R&D team in Breda. Our team develops advanced data acquisition and measurement solutions for demanding engineering and industrial applications. These systems capture, process and synchronize large amounts of data and are designed for applications where performance, reliability and scalability are essential. You will work on the development of modern embedded platforms, with a strong focus on C++20 and Linux. Your work will mainly be at application level, while also giving you the opportunity to contribute to lower-level system and driver development. What you will do As an Embedded Software Engineer, you will work on software that controls, synchronizes and manages advanced data acquisition systems. Your responsibilities include: Design and develop high-performance software using modern C++20.Develop primarily at application level on Linux.Contribute to lower-level system and driver development where required.Develop software for systems with real-time requirements and high data throughput.Work on solutions that scale from individual data acquisition devices to distributed and synchronized systems.Analyze requirements and translate them into robust and scalable technical solutions.Contribute to software architecture and technical design decisions.Take ownership of your code throughout its lifecycle, from development and testing through maintenance and improvement.Work in 3-week agile sprints and actively contribute to planning, reviews and retrospectives.Participate in code reviews and maintain high development standards using Git-based workflows.Develop and improve CI/CD pipelines and automated build and test infrastructure using Jenkins.Work closely with hardware engineers, embedded software developers, application software engineers and testers.Contribute to continuous improvements in software quality, architecture and development processes.What we are looking for 5+ years of professional software development experience.Strong experience with C++.Experience with modern C++, preferably C++17/C++20.Experience with Linux.Experience in embedded software development.Knowledge of real-time software and performance-critical systems.Experience with distributed systems, synchronization or communication between devices is a plus.Experience working with large data volumes and high-bandwidth data processing is a plus.Experience with Git and modern software development practices.Experience with Jenkins or other CI/CD tooling is a plus.You are comfortable working in a multidisciplinary engineering environment.You take ownership, think analytically and care about writing reliable, maintainable and testable software.Candidates with 5 to 15 years of relevant experience are welcome. The team You will join a software team of around 8 engineers, within a broader R&D organization of approximately 20 people, including software engineers, embedded specialists and testers. The Breda team works closely with engineering teams in Belgium and Germany and with external technology partners. Together, we develop state-of-the-art data acquisition solutions used in technically demanding applications.
