As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will have a high level of technical expertise to support Optus in meeting a range of regulatory obligations.
The role also requires strong stakeholder management skills, as the Senior Systems Engineer will regularly meet with representatives from government agencies, vendors and internal teams.
You will be responsible for supporting innovative technical solutions to address customer requirements and government initiatives through the solution’s life cycle.
The Day to Day
Assist team members in delivering end-to-end solutions across the technology lifecycle, from development through to operationsContribute to highly available, secure, and scalable systems, maintaining reliability of critical regulatory platformsPartner with internal teams and external stakeholders, including government and law enforcement agencies, to support solution delivery and operationsParticipate in security risk assessments and help maintain security architecture in regulated environmentsSupport continuous improvement through modern engineering practices, automation, and evolving technologies.
What You Bring
Due to the nature of this role, you must be an Australian Citizen who holds (or be eligible to obtain) an Australian Government security clearanceExperience in full stack, end to end, systems design and engineering, including infrastructure build and operateStrong Linux experience is essentialVirtualization (Proxmox) and Kubernetes (Rancher) experienceSoftware development using:Go (essential)Rust (familiarity, desire to develop the skillset is essential)Python (desired, not essential)Gitlab CICD and SDLCExperience leveraging modern cloud native designs, tooling and patterns in an entirely on-premises environment.

Terraform, Ansible, Packer etcDatacenter experience including the installation and maintenance of server, network and storage equipmentStrong communication and stakeholder engagement skillsRelevant tertiary qualifications in Computer Science/Engineering; cybersecurity certifications are an advantage
