Location: Remote (Hybrid for local candidates based in Chicago, IL)
ABOUT THE ROLE
You'll work directly with our CTO and Chief Architect as an early, high-trust engineering hire.
You'll write the backend services behind our products and client integrations, and you'll own them all the way to production.
The scope is broad, the ownership is real, and you'll see how the whole system fits together.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Design, build, and maintain backend services, APIs, and integrations in C# and .NET (REST and OData), backed by SQL Server and PostgreSQL.Own your work end to end.
You'll write it, test it, ship it, and run it using CI/CD pipelines and GitOps workflows.Containerize applications with Docker and deploy them to our Kubernetes platform.Administer the Windows Server and Linux systems your services run on, and keep client and internal environments healthy.Take part in an on-call rotation covering monitoring, incident response, and uptime targets.Document what you build and help shape our engineering practices as the team grows.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Around 6 years of professional experience across software engineering and systems or DevOps work.Strong backend skills in C# and .NET.
We'll also consider strong Java, Go, Python, or Node.js engineers who want to work in .NET.Hands-on experience administering both Windows Server and Linux.Comfort scripting in PowerShell or Bash and working in Git every day.Willingness to join an on-call rotation that runs 7 AM to 7 PM.Clear communication with both technical teams and client stakeholders.
NICE TO HAVE
Kubernetes and Docker in production, plus infrastructure as code with Terraform, Bicep, or similar tools.Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud experience.
Certifications are a plus.Identity and security work with Entra ID, Keycloak, AD FS, OAuth2, OIDC, SAML, or Conditional Access.Microsoft ecosystem experience with Microsoft 365, Intune, Dynamics 365, or Business Central (AL) development.Past MSP, consulting, or multi-client work.
