Experienced or Senior Controls Engineer Automation & Materials Handling About the Company Our client is a European intralogistics leader with more than 75 years of history and over 1,000 people. Still family-owned and with a catalogue of patented leading-edge technologies, they deliver automated solutions for multiple industries and airport, parcel, warehouse and cargo-handling clients across the globe. Already in investment mode, their well-established Sydney operation now has an opportunity for an experienced or Senior Control Systems Engineer to join their growing team. About the Role This role calls for an engineer who has excellent client-facing experience and who wants to lead from the front. You'll own the design, development and delivery of automation control systems from concept through to commissioning, and help shape how the controls function grows. Specifically, you will: - Lead the commissioning of multi-million dollar materials handing systems. - Own controls delivery on your projects, from functional design and PLC/HMI development through FAT, site commissioning and handover - Help shape engineering standards, templates and ways of working as the controls team grows - Contribute to risk assessments and functional safety reviews, and take the lead as your experience grows - Support installed sites by diagnosing faults, delivering upgrades and keeping systems performing, on site or remotely - Work hand in hand with mechanical and electrical engineers to deliver fully integrated systems About You You already have deep experience in designing control systems from scratch and leading onsite commissioning. Degree-qualified in electrical engineering, mechatronics or similar, you can demonstrate: - Strong functional and detailed design skills - Deep hands-on PLC experience across Siemens TIA Portal - A background in automated materials handling, such as conveyors, parcel sortation, factory automation, intralogistics, BHS / baggage handling systems etc - Experience across new-build and retrofit projects - Solid electrical knowledge and a practical understanding of machine safety - Comfort and confidence producing specifications and technical documentation - Excellent verbal, written communication and client / stakeholder engagement skills - Existing working rights for Australia- Driving licence As well as having a strong balance sheet, this organisation’s local and global leadership culture is as supportive as it is consistent.
