About The Role
The Patriot Cybersecurity organization at RTX is seeking an experienced Product Owner to lead cybersecurity innovation and secure development efforts for the Patriot missile system.
This onsite role in Tewksbury, MA, involves guiding the modernization of cybersecurity capabilities across software, hardware, and integrated system components.
The Product Owner will serve as a key driver of cybersecurity initiatives, performing advanced assessment activities such as ethical hacking, vulnerability discovery, threat analysis, and mitigation strategy development.
The role requires close collaboration with engineering teams, stakeholders, and leadership to ensure the implementation of secure, resilient, and compliant systems that meet evolving cyber threats.
The individual will oversee Agile teams, including Scrum Masters and practitioners, to deliver new cyber capabilities aligned with strategic objectives, influencing technical direction, security posture, and product roadmaps.
This position demands a high level of independence, technical expertise, and strategic thinking to support the modernization and security enhancement of the Patriot system.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) field8+ years of relevant experience in cybersecurity, engineering, or technical product leadershipActive and transferable U.S.
government-issued security clearance (Secret level) prior to startU.S.
citizenship required for security clearance eligibilityDeep understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals, compliance standards, and Risk Management Framework (RMF, NIST SP)Hands-on experience with vulnerability assessments, ethical hacking, kill chain analysis, and remediation strategiesProficiency with cybersecurity standards such as NSA (FIPS), NIST (SP 800 series), DISA STIGs, and USCYBERCOM guidanceExperience with secure configuration and management of Windows, RHEL, and network platforms like CiscoFamiliarity with cybersecurity tools such as Nessus, ACAS, OpenVAS, SCC, SCAP, and STIG ViewerExperience leading or facilitating Agile teams, with the ability to define and communicate user stories and backlog itemsStrong analytical skills to interpret complex cybersecurity test results and threat data
Responsibilities
Act as Product Owner for one of the Scrum Teams within Patriot Cyber, leading product vision and backlog managementDevelop and execute cybersecurity strategies for emerging Patriot capabilities across software, hardware, and network componentsPerform advanced penetration testing, threat modeling, attack surface analysis, and system hardening recommendationsApply structured frameworks such as Ethical Hacking Phases and Cyber Kill Chain to identify vulnerabilities and adversary techniquesConduct vulnerability scans, assessments, and translate findings into prioritized risks and remediation plansDrive application security analysis and define secure development requirements for modernization projectsIntegrate cybersecurity assessment outputs into sprint planning and product decision-making processesDevelop and maintain cybersecurity architecture artifacts, requirements, policies, and design documentsContribute to RMF/ATO documentation, including SSPs, POA&Ms, SARs, PPSMs, and SBOM updatesCollaborate with engineering, platform owners, and stakeholders to evaluate solutions and ensure secure system implementationWork independently to investigate complex cybersecurity issues, gather technical data, and recommend system improvementsCommunicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to promote secure development practices and influence cybersecurity policies
