The business was established in direct response to the growing lack of credit in Australia’s mid-range property market; a situation exacerbated by the shortage of reputable, risk-adverse, non-bank lenders.
Fortis our property development management business, has a portfolio of more than $1 billion in successfully completed residential and commercial projects, with a further $900 million to be completed by the end of the year.
Due to continued growth at Fortis, there is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Development Manager to join our Sydney team and lead the delivery of key projects across the Australian Eastern Seaboard and New Zealand.
The role will oversee the full development lifecycle, from acquisition and feasibility through planning, design, procurement, construction and completion.
Working closely with the investment team, the Senior Development Manager will combine strong development and commercial expertise with effective stakeholder management to drive successful outcomes across a diverse portfolio of commercial, accommodation and adaptive re-use projects.
Key Responsibilities
Manage projects across the full development lifecycle, from acquisition and feasibility through planning, design, procurement, construction and completion.Lead project programmes, budgets, cash flows, forecasts, risk management and delivery outcomes.Ensure projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the required quality standards.Support acquisition opportunities, due diligence and development feasibilities to maximise project performance and investment returns.Manage planning approvals and coordinate architects, planners, engineers, contractors and specialist consultants.Develop and oversee procurement strategies, tender processes, contract appointments and construction delivery.Identify and manage commercial, planning and construction risks throughout each project.Support project funding, governance and reporting requirements, including clear reporting to senior management and investors.Build and maintain strong relationships with investors, joint venture partners, consultants, contractors, authorities and operators.
About You
A degree qualification in Property, Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Planning or a related discipline.At least 10 years’ experience in development management, project management or a related property development role.Demonstrated experience delivering hotel development projects is essential, with experience across residential, mixed-use, adaptive re-use or comparable developments also highly regarded.Strong commercial, financial and feasibility analysis skills.A sound understanding of planning, procurement and construction delivery.High-level stakeholder management and negotiation skills.Strong written and verbal communication skills.The ability to manage multiple projects and priorities concurrently.Experience working on New Zealand-based projects is favourable but not essential.
