Description

Platform Engineer | Kubernetes | GCP/AWS | Financial Services JS Careers is partnering with a global financial services organisation in Sydney on a Platform Engineer opportunity. The role sits within a cloud engineering team that owns the foundations every other development team builds on. It would suit someone who enjoys automating environments end-to-end, building reliable delivery pipelines and being the engineer other teams rely on. You'll be building and evolving a platform that supports a wider engineering function across multiple product teams. The environment is diverse in terms of the tech stack, and there is a strong push towards AI-assisted engineering at every stage of the SDLC. What you'll be doing: Design, build and maintain automation to stand up GCP and Kubernetes (GKE) environments end-to-endBuild and harden secure, automated CI/CD pipelines for containerised servicesBuild monitoring, alerting and logging into environments from the ground upLead incident response and drive continuous improvement in operational maturityReduce manual toil through scripting and automation (Python, Bash, Go)Develop tooling to streamline system and data migrations onto modern containerised platformsIntegrate core platform components including API gateways, event-driven architectures and messaging queuesWork closely with engineering teams to break down ambiguous, multi-system problems and solve them systematically What we're looking for: Production experience orchestrating containerised workloads with Kubernetes (GKE preferred, EKS highly regarded)Strong hands-on experience managing and scaling cloud infrastructure on GCP or AWSExperience building CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD or BitbucketPractical experience with monitoring, observability and incident responseScripting capability in Python, Bash or GoExposure to API gateways, event-driven patterns and messaging queuesComfort working in an AI-assisted engineering environment, with a strong focus on quality and securityClear communication skills and a proactive, accountable approach to problem-solving You don't need deep experience across every part of the stack; we're open to hearing from people who can adapt and grow into the role. If you're looking for a hands-on Platform Engineer role where you'll own the foundations that other teams build on, we'd love to hear from you.
