Description

Our Opportunity Location: Perth - Fortescue's Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people. Ad hoc site travel as required. Roster:Monday – Friday Summary Reporting to the Principal Electrical Engineer, the role will oversee HV and LV electrical design from concept through to commissioning, ensuring safe, practical and reliable solutions that meet legislative, technical and Fortescue engineering requirements. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, consultants and suppliers to resolve technical challenges and support the successful delivery of innovative decarbonisation projects. Key Responsibilities Review and assure electrical designs, calculations, drawings, studies and specifications prepared by engineering consultants and equipment suppliers.Provide senior electrical engineering expertise across infrastructure projects from concept through to commissioning, including design reviews, FAT, SAT and technical acceptance.Develop and review electrical system architectures, equipment specifications and technical standards for HV and LV electrical systems.Ensure electrical designs comply with Western Australian legislation, Australian Standards, Electrical Safety in Design principles and Fortescue engineering requirements.Provide technical guidance across AC power systems, including HV/LV distribution, protection systems, transformers, switchgear, motors and associated infrastructure.Review HV protection systems, protection coordination studies, protection settings and relay commissioning activities.Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary engineering teams, project teams, consultants, contractors and equipment suppliers to resolve technical issues and support project delivery.Apply sound engineering judgement to develop safe, practical and reliable electrical solutions across multiple concurrent projects.Provide technical input through project delivery, including supporting design assurance, commissioning and resolution of emerging engineering issues.Work autonomously while managing multiple priorities and evolving project requirements in a dynamic decarbonisation environment. Qualifications And Experience Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering.Minimum 8 years' experience delivering mining, industrial, utilities or electrical infrastructure projects.Strong technical knowledge of AC power systems, including HV/LV distribution, protection systems, transformers, switchgear, motors and power system design.Strong understanding of Western Australian electrical legislation, mining regulations, Electrical Safety in Design principles and applicable Australian Standards.Demonstrated experience with HV protection systems, protection coordination studies, protection setting reviews and commissioning of protection relays.Experience with protection relay platforms such as SEL, ABB, Siemens or GE Multilin is highly desirable.Underground mining electrical engineering experience is highly desirable.Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities and provide sound technical judgement with minimal supervision.Strong communication, collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills.Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment and adapt to multiple concurrent priorities and evolving project requirements.
