About The Role
In this role, you will keep a smart meter data platform fast, stable, and ready for the future.
On the Transition Smart Energy Platform (SXP) project for a German transmission system operator, you will take over an existing solution and modernize it step by step through 2027, so that large volumes of energy data are processed reliably every day.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain high-performance Java services that receive and process large volumes of smart meter dataModernize the inherited platform step by step, improving performance, maintainability, and resilienceCollaborate closely with DevOps engineers, architects, and client stakeholders to plan changes and release them safelyAnalyze and resolve third-level incidents and fix bugs to keep production services dependableBuild event-driven data flows with Kafka and Kafka StreamsOperate and troubleshoot services on Kubernetes, and monitor them with Grafana and SplunkMaintain Azure DevOps pipelines for continuous integration and deliveryContribute to Angular frontend work when the project requires it
Requirements
8+ years of experience in Java development and related technologies8+ years of experience with Spring Boot or similar frameworks (Quarkus, Jakarta EE)6+ years of experience with Docker and KubernetesPractical experience with Kafka and/or Kafka StreamsRecent hands-on project experience (within the last 3 years) in the technologies aboveAnalytical approach to incident analysis and problem-solving in production environmentsClear, proactive communication within a distributed teamExpert knowledge of Java and related technologiesSoftware design patterns, continuous integration, and security practicesExperience building solutions for large data volumes with relational and non-relational databasesExperience with OpenShift and/or AzureKnowledge of power grids and energy marketsFluent German and English (C1) to work with the client, run technical discussions, and write documentation in both languages
