Groom & Associés is currently partnering with an established organization in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology research sector to recruit an experienced Principal Scientist, Bioanalytical R&D – LC-MS/MS.
This is an exciting opportunity for an accomplished scientific professional to take a leadership role within a GLP-compliant bioanalytical laboratory, overseeing method development, driving scientific innovation, and leading a specialized Research & Development team.
The successful candidate will combine deep technical expertise in LC-MS/MS bioanalysis with strong scientific leadership, project oversight, and the ability to collaborate across research, operations, and commercial functions.
Key Responsibilities
Scientific Leadership & Method Development
Lead bioanalytical R&D activities, including LC-MS/MS method development for small and large therapeutic molecules.Develop innovative analytical methodologies and oversee the implementation and verification of client methods.Serve as the principal scientific expert for LC-MS/MS method development and complex analytical challenges.Review and approve R&D reports, analytical methods, and scientific data prior to transfer for GLP validation or submission to sponsors.Ensure scientific excellence, data integrity, and compliance with applicable GLP standards and internal procedures.Stay current with emerging technologies, regulatory developments, and industry best practices.Team Leadership & Operational Collaboration
Lead, mentor, and develop a specialized team of R&D scientists.Oversee departmental activities, project priorities, resource allocation, and scientific deliverables.Support recruitment, onboarding, and professional development within the R&D department.Collaborate closely with GLP Operations, Method Validation, and Mass Spectrometry teams to ensure successful project execution.Identify opportunities to improve laboratory efficiency, scientific capabilities, and departmental performance.Scientific Strategy & Client Collaboration
Act as a key scientific resource for internal stakeholders and external clients.Provide technical expertise during project feasibility assessments, scientific discussions, and proposal development.Partner with Business Development and commercial teams to evaluate new opportunities, project timelines, and technical requirements.Contribute to project quotations, resource estimates, and scientific budget planning.Support strategic scientific partnerships and represent the organization at relevant industry events and conferences.Qualifications & Experience
Master's degree or Ph.D.
in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related scientific discipline.Minimum 8–10 years of experience in an LC-MS/MS bioanalytical laboratory operating within a GLP-compliant environment.At least 5 years of experience in Research & Development, with significant involvement in bioanalytical method development.Advanced technical expertise in LC-MS/MS, analytical chemistry, and bioanalytical assay development.Experience working with small molecules and/or large therapeutic molecules.Strong understanding of GLP requirements, method validation, and analytical data integrity.Demonstrated ability to lead scientific projects, resolve complex technical challenges, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.Previous team leadership or scientific management experience is strongly valued.Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.What We Offer
