Horizon is seeking an open, enthusiastic, experienced Flight Control Laws Engineer. Your role involves developing our platform’s flight control laws, and flight control systems. As flight controls are the brains of the platform you will interface with almost every other area of expertise – as a result you will be dealing with complex and often competing requirements to develop a unique system. As we’re a small team, there is significant scope for you to advance your career and learn about adjacent disciplines. Your Day- To-Day Design of flight controls laws, performance models, CONOPS, requirements, and analysisImplement requirements for the flight control laws, sensors, and algorithmsDevelop creative solutions to verify complex systems and softwareImprove the capabilities of our flight simulator and environment modelsImplement and test the flight control system, and evaluate performanceStay up to date with, and implement the latest developments in your fieldDrive the continuous improvement of our processes to increase safety and efficiency We are looking for people that will have the following qualifications and experiences: Demonstrated experience (5+ years) in a flight control laws or control algorithm development role.Strong knowledge of aerodynamics, vehicle dynamics, and aircraft stability (ideally in EVTOL development).Familiarity with modern control theory and methodologies including robust and optimal control.Familiarity with system ID and signal processing techniques.Experience with development, real-time simulation and analysis in Matlab/Simulink.Experience with code generation tools.Proficiency in C/C++.Experience developing software complying with DO-178C.Familiarity with eVTOL Certification regulations from the TCCA, FAA, and EASA.
