Horizon is seeking an open, enthusiastic Senior Embedded DevOps and Software Verification Engineer. Your role involves developing, maintaining and applying the engineering infrastructure and verification practices that demonstrate our embedded software meets its design and safety targets. Your role will be pivotal in determining how confident we can be in our platform’s readiness, and you will support the design team with creative ideas to make verification faster, more rigorous and more automated. As we’re a small team, there is significant scope for you to advance your career and learn about adjacent disciplines. Your Day-to-Day Own and continuously improve the CI/CD pipelines, build systems, and toolchains used to compile, test, and release embedded flight software.Design, develop, and maintain automated test infrastructure for requirements-based verification of embedded software running on bare-metal ARM microcontroller targets.Partner with systems and software engineers to translate system-level requirements into verification test cases, test procedures, and objective test evidence consistent with DO-178C.Develop scripts and tools (Python, shell, etc.) to automate build, test, static analysis, structural coverage, and release processes across the software development lifecycle.Measure, analyze, and report on software verification metrics such as structural coverage (statement, decision, and MC/DC), data coupling, and control coupling, and drive closure of coverage gaps.Support integration and verification of low-level embedded software with model-based code generated through MATLAB Simulink.Assess, measure, troubleshoot, and resolve issues with software execution and characteristics such as worst-case timing and memory margin.Manage software configuration management (SCM) processes, version control workflows (Git/GitHub/GitLab), branching strategies, and change control across the software development project.Maintain and improve build and test environment reproducibility using containerization and/or virtualization technologies.Perform peer reviews of other team members’ software, test procedures, and verification artifacts.Author, review, release, and continuously improve software development, verification, and DevOps processes and plans.Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with both internal & external customers.High energy, self-motivated, organized, and detail-oriented; comfortable working independently and as a member of an integrated team. Ideal Candidates Will Have The Following Qualifications And Experiences BS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related degree from an accredited university.Minimum 8 years of experience in real-time embedded software development and/or software verification using C or C++.Strong understanding of software configuration management and contemporary software build, integration, test, and deployment (CI/CD) methodologies.Hands-on experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and build automation (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, or similar).Proficiency scripting in Python and/or shell for test automation, tooling, and infrastructure.Experience developing and executing requirements-based verification tests, including structural coverage analysis (statement, decision, and MC/DC).Experience in most of the following areas: hard real-time systems, built-in-test, tasking and interrupts, RTOS, bare-metal development, communication protocols (CAN, I2C, SPI).Comfortable reading electrical schematics, documentation, and datasheets.Experience with electronics lab equipment such as programmable power supplies, signal generators, oscilloscopes, and bus analyzers.Good team, communication, and leadership skills required.
