By joining Horizon, you will have the opportunity to work with our world-class entrepreneurial team who are passionate about delivering something special.
What we need you to bring.
We are seeking a highly motivated Engineer – Mass Properties to support the development, certification, and production of our next-generation aircraft program.
The Mass Properties Engineer will be responsible for managing and analyzing aircraft weight, center of gravity (CG), inertia characteristics, and mass distribution throughout the product lifecycle.
This role is critical to ensuring aircraft performance, stability, control, structural integrity, certification compliance, and operational safety.
The successful candidate will work closely with Design Engineering, Structures, Systems Integration, Flight Sciences, Manufacturing, and Flight Test teams to establish and maintain an accurate mass properties database while supporting program milestones from conceptual design through certification and entry into service.
Your Day-to-Day
Establish weight management plans, methodologies, and reporting processes.Track weight and CG throughout the design, development, manufacturing, and test phases.Analyse the effects of design changes on aircraft weight and balance characteristics.Support aircraft configuration management and ensure mass properties data is accurately reflected in engineering releases.Generate and communicate weight status reports, trends, risks, and projections to program leadership.Collaborate with design teams to identify weight reduction opportunities and optimize aircraft performance.Plan and support physical aircraft weighing activities and inertia measurement campaigns.Correlate analytical predictions to measured aircraft data and update models as required.Support certification and compliance documentation related to weight and balance requirements.Interface with suppliers to obtain and validate component weight and CG data. You may have skills, talents and experiences outside of those required for your direct role that will be useful to the rest of the team and also there will be times when it’s all hands-on deck and you may be asked to pick-up new tasks: enthusiastically offer help where it will bring value.Drive the continuous improvement of our processes to increase safety and efficiency.
