Join a small distributed engineering team building Java 17+ microservices and streaming systems for large-scale financial data processing. You will design and deliver high-throughput components where reliability and performance are critical, with opportunities for developers at different experience levels.
Highlights
Work in a small distributed agile engineering team, build high-throughput services processing financial data at scale, tackle challenging performance-focused projects, and opportunities are available across multiple experience levels.
Description
Referment is working with a London-based technology company that builds data transparency and accountability tools for the investment management industry.
Its platform aggregates and validates cost and holdings data from across the investment supply chain, allowing pension funds, asset managers and other service providers to share and interrogate validated information about their investment activities.
The engineering team works in a distributed agile setup, building high-throughput services that process financial data at scale.
The Role
You'll join a small engineering team working on a range of challenging projects built around Java 17+ microservices and streaming technologies.
The services you build sit at the heart of the platform, so performance matters: you'll design and ship high-throughput components that process large volumes of financial data reliably.
We are building out the team at several levels of experience, so there is scope whether you are a strong mid-level developer or a senior engineer looking for more ownership.
You'll work closely with product and fellow engineers in short agile cycles, deploying as soon as work is ready.
What We're Looking For
Deep core Java knowledge and a real interest in performance-critical, high-throughput systemsExperience with test-driven development, with automated testing and continuous integration central to how the team worksThe ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-developers as well as to your peersComfort working as part of a distributed, agile team
Development Stack
Open source: JUnit 5, Mockito, gRPC, Spring Integration, Apache FlinkEnvironment: Linux, GitHub, Jenkins, MavenInfrastructure: PostgreSQL, Kafka, Kubernetes, Docker, ArgoCD, PuppetCloud: AWS
Desirable
Knowledge of trading and operations in any asset class, market data, risk, accounting or fund administration would be advantageous, though it is not essential.
This could suit an experienced Java engineer from a financial markets, fintech or high-volume data background, or a strong generalist developer keen to work on performance-critical systems.
