Quality Assurance Engineer

3-Month Contract with Extensions | Hybrid | 45-50/hr W-2 Opportunity We're seeking a QA Engineer with strong experience testing APIs, integrations, and connected systems to join a growing team focused on device-to-cloud technology. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands-on QA environment, enjoys investigating complex issues, and can work independently to ensure high-quality releases across devices, applications, and cloud platforms. Must-Haves: 3+ years of QA/Test Engineering experience (5+ preferred) Strong API testing experience (REST & SOAP) Hands-on experience with Postman SQL/database validation experience Experience testing integrated systems and end-to-end workflows Familiarity with JSON, XML, HTTP methods, and API integrations Experience with Jira, Rally, or similar defect-tracking tools Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills Nice-to-Have: Connected device/IoT testing experience MQTT, BLE, Wi-Fi, or other device communication protocols Cloud platform experience (AWS or Azure) Test automation experience (Python, pytest, Postman/Newman, etc.) Security testing experience (OWASP, vulnerability scanning, penetration testing support) Hardware/device lab testing experience What You'll Be Doing: Develop and execute test plans and test cases for new features and releasesPerform API, UI, integration, database, and security testingValidate connected-device functionality, performance, and reliabilityTest device-to-cloud communication and network connectivitySimulate real-world outages, failures, and load scenariosExecute SQL queries to validate data accuracy and integrityIdentify, document, and track defects through resolutionCollaborate with developers, product managers, and engineering teamsContribute to continuous improvement of QA processes and testing strategies Tech Environment: API Testing: Postman, REST, SOAP Databases: SQL Protocols: MQTT, BLE, Wi-Fi Cloud: AWS, Azure Tools: Jira, Rally Languages: Python, JavaScript (preferred)
