About The Role We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Front-End Developer to join our dynamic team at BNY. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for leading the development and evolution of our design system, which serves as the foundation for our digital products. Your expertise will be instrumental in creating scalable, reusable, and maintainable web components that ensure consistency, quality, and efficiency across all applications. Working closely with designers, product managers, and fellow developers, you will translate design principles into technical solutions, champion best practices in front-end development, and mentor junior team members. Your contributions will directly impact the user experience, enhancing the visual and interactive quality of our digital platforms. Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess over 8 years of experience in front-end development, with a significant focus on design system development. You should have expert-level proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript, along with deep expertise in modern front-end frameworks such as Angular and React. A strong command of CSS, including pre-processors, advanced styling techniques, CSS variables, variable stacking, and robust color systems, is essential. Extensive experience with Web Components and their application in large-scale systems is required, along with a proven track record of scaling design systems, managing complex theming architectures, and ensuring smooth production deployments. You should also have a solid understanding of version management and library dependency management within a component library context, with experience in packaged version control for design system assets. Excellent communication skills, a keen eye for visual and interactive detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams are critical for success. Bonus points will be given to candidates with experience in the Financial Services or FinTech industry, contributions to open-source design systems, and familiarity with AI-powered tools. Responsibilities Lead the development and continuous evolution of BNY's design system, focusing on reusability, scalability, and maintainability of components.Architect and implement web components that serve as the building blocks for user interfaces across various applications.Drive advanced theming solutions to support multiple brand identities and user preferences, utilizing CSS variables, variable stacking, and sophisticated color systems.Manage the full lifecycle of design system components, including development, deployment, versioning, and ongoing maintenance.Oversee library and package dependency management to ensure a stable and efficient development environment.Collaborate closely with design, product, and engineering teams to translate design principles into technical solutions that meet user needs.Champion best practices in front-end development, focusing on performance, accessibility, and user experience.Mentor and guide other developers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation and guidelines for designers and developers to ensure consistent implementation and usage.Create working code demonstrations to showcase component capabilities and usage scenarios for internal teams. Benefits BNY offers a competitive compensation package, including base salary, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive plans, and comprehensive benefits programs. The base salary for this position ranges between $95,000 and $209,000 annually, determined based on experience and market location. In addition to salary, employees may be eligible for performance-based incentives, stock options, and other discretionary payments.
