Vice President of Product Location: Austin, TX – Relocation Eligible Schedule: Hybrid Travel: Yes (30%+) The Role We are looking for a Vice President of Product to direct the strategy for our Public-Sector facing integrated hardware and software ecosystems. You will oversee the development of complex, edge-deployed technology—including cameras, IoT devices, and software while integrating machine learning and AI capabilities into the core product suite. As a key executive, you will rely on data to guide the product organization and align the executive team and Board of Directors around a clear roadmap for growth. This role is a combination of being hands on with our evolving, active products, as well as managing and overseeing a team of Product Managers across a number of different product lines that are both active and emerging. Key Responsibilities Define and execute a market-leading product vision and strategy for student and community safety across the public sector.Unify cameras, vision systems, IoT, robotics, software platforms, data products, and AI/ML into an integrated product portfolio.Own the full product lifecycle—from customer discovery and concept development through NPI, manufacturing, commercial deployment, support, enhancement, and end-of-life.Transform and scale the product organization by building the talent, structure, operating cadence, decision rights, and accountability required for predictable execution and high growth.Establish a data-driven product operating model using customer, market, operational, financial, and product analytics to prioritize investments, measure outcomes, manage product P&L, and improve decision certainty and precision.Partner with Sales, Marketing, Operations, Finance, and Customer Success to define target segments, pricing, packaging, positioning, go-to-market strategy, and deployment models.Build alignment across hardware engineering, software engineering, AI/ML, supply chain, manufacturing, and commercial teams through clear priorities, transparent tradeoffs, conviction, persuasion, and a low-ego leadership style.Develop market and competitive intelligence to anticipate opportunities in edge computing, computer vision, IoT, robotics, and public-sector technology.Deliver evidence-based product recommendations, risks, investment cases, and portfolio updates to the executive team and Board of Directors. You Are A transformational product executive who has built or rebuilt high-performing product organizations in complex, high-growth technology businesses.Commercially minded, with a strong understanding of public-sector markets, customer value, pricing, product P&L, and predictable growth.An expert in driving product vision for public sector product roadmapsA strategic operator who can turn a broad mission into a focused portfolio, clear roadmap, and measurable business outcomes.Experienced in taking integrated hardware and software products from concept through launch, scale, deployment, and lifecycle management.Highly analytical and data-driven, using evidence to prioritize investment while applying sound judgment when information is incomplete.Comfortable leading across hardware, software, AI/ML, manufacturing, supply chain, field operations, and commercial functions.A clear, persuasive executive communicator who can influence senior leaders and the Board of Directors.A low-ego, collaborative leader who creates alignment, makes difficult tradeoffs, and maintains a high bar for accountability.Fast-moving and outcome-oriented, balancing speed of innovation with reliability, precision, and operational rigor.Deeply motivated by improving student and community safety through technology. Qualifications 15+ years of product leadership experience, with significant experience in public sector products and a track record of building complex technologies and managing teams.Proven experience in a VP seat.Domain expertise in hardware product development (e.g., cameras, IoT, robotics or similar technology domains) combined with the software and cloud platforms that power them.Experience in New Product Introduction (NPI), taking hardware devices from R&D prototypes to mass production and global deployment.History of commercializing Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence technologies within integrated hardware and software ecosystems.Business and financial acumen, with experience managing product margins, pricing strategies, and revenue growth.Executive presence with the ability to lead with data, advocate for strategic direction, and influence board decisions while remaining grounded and collaborative.Ability to recruit, retain, and develop product managers in competitive tech markets.Advanced degree (MS, MBA, or PhD) in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or a related discipline.
