Position Overview We are seeking a mid-to-senior level Java Developer to join our development team. This role will primarily focus on supporting, enhancing, and modernizing Java-based backend systems, with a long-term opportunity to help transition services into modern .NET-based microservices. The ideal candidate has strong Java backend development experience, understands legacy systems, and can work independently while collaborating well with others. Experience with .NET, C#, modern .NET Core, microservices, Domain-Driven Design, and event-driven architecture is a strong plus. This role is a good fit for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, improving existing systems, learning new technologies, and helping a team move toward a modern service-based architecture. Responsibilities Design, develop, maintain, and support Java-based backend applications, services, and APIs.Work with legacy Java systems, including older frameworks such as Struts, and help modernize them over time.Develop and maintain RESTful APIs, backend services, and integrations with internal and external systems.Analyze existing Java services and help plan future replacement or migration to modern .NET services.Participate in the design and development of new .NET services as the platform transitions toward modern .NET architecture.Apply object-oriented design, design patterns, SOLID principles, and clean coding practices.Refactor existing code to improve maintainability, reliability, performance, and testability.Work with relational databases such as Oracle, including SQL, indexes, foreign keys, constraints, and query performance.Use ORM frameworks such as JPA, Hibernate, Entity Framework, or similar technologies.Support service-based and microservice architecture with clear service boundaries and maintainable business logic.Contribute to event-driven architecture using messaging platforms such as RabbitMQ, Kafka, Azure Service Bus, or similar technologies.Write and maintain unit tests and integration tests to ensure code quality and system stability.Participate in peer code reviews, technical design discussions, and architecture planning.Work with Git, CI/CD pipelines, build tools, and modern development workflows.Collaborate with product owners, QA, DevOps, architects, and other developers in an Agile/Scrum environment.Troubleshoot application issues, review logs, identify root causes, and support production systems as needed.Create and maintain technical documentation for APIs, services, architecture decisions, and application changes.Mentor junior developers and contribute to team learning, engineering standards, and continuous improvement. Required Skills And Experience 5+ years of professional software development experience, with strong Java backend development experience.Experience developing RESTful APIs and backend services.Experience working with legacy Java applications and modernizing or refactoring existing codebases.Experience with Java frameworks such as Spring, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data, or similar technologies.Experience with older Java frameworks such as Struts is preferred.Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, SOLID principles, refactoring, and clean code.Experience with relational databases, preferably Oracle.Strong SQL skills, including understanding of indexes, foreign keys, constraints, joins, and query optimization.Experience with ORM frameworks such as JPA, Hibernate, or similar tools.Experience with unit testing and integration testing using tools such as JUnit, Mockito, or similar frameworks.Experience with Maven or Gradle.Strong Git skills, including branching, pull requests, code reviews, and merge conflict resolution.Ability to work independently while clearly communicating progress, risks, and blockers.Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical skills.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Experience working in Agile/Scrum development teams.Ability to collaborate well with others and contribute to a positive team environment.Willingness to mentor junior developers and share knowledge with the team.
