About Our Client: Our client is a manufacturer and distributor of tools and accessories.
Position Scope:
The Senior Business Development Manager will play a key role in driving our client’s continued growth and strengthening relationships with strategic customers, distribution partners, and key industry stakeholders across North America and international markets.
This position combines both business development and account management, with responsibility for identifying new opportunities while expanding relationships with established customers.
The successful candidate will work closely with sales, engineering, marketing, and leadership teams to develop growth strategies, support complex opportunities, and strengthen partnerships with major customers and buying groups.
This individual will initially focus on learning the business, understanding customer needs, and developing deep product and industry knowledge before assuming broader leadership responsibilities.
The position is hybrid - 2 days work from home per week after the probationary period.
Responsibilities:
Develop and execute business development strategies to drive revenue growth across existing and new marketsBuild and maintain strong relationships with strategic customers, distributors, buying groups, and channel partnersIdentify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities while expanding existing customer relationshipsSupport and mentor sales representatives on business development initiatives and major opportunitiesPartner with internal teams to develop customized customer solutions and close complex sales opportunitiesManage relationships with key accounts and national customersWork collaboratively with engineering, marketing, and operations teams to support customer requirementsRepresent the company at trade shows, industry events, customer meetings, and international business functionsConduct regular customer visits across Canada, the United States, Europe, Japan, Australia, and other key marketsStay informed on industry trends, competitive activity, customer needs, and emerging market opportunitiesContribute to strategic planning and future sales team development initiativesMaintain accurate customer, opportunity, and pipeline information
Required Skills and Knowledge:
Proven business development and relationship management capabilitiesStrong sales acumen with experience balancing both new business development and account growthExcellent verbal, written, presentation, and negotiation skillsAbility to develop relationships with executive-level customers, distributors, and key stakeholdersStrong commercial and strategic thinking abilitiesExceptional interpersonal skills and a customer-focused approachAbility to work independently while collaborating effectively across departmentsStrong organizational, planning, and time management skillsComfortable managing multiple priorities and travelling extensivelyEntrepreneurial mindset with a proactive, results-oriented approachAbility to learn and communicate technical products and solutionsStrong problem-solving capabilities and business judgment
Education and Experience:
Postsecondary education in Business, Commerce, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field is preferredMinimum 5 years of progressive business development, account management, sales leadership, or strategic sales experienceDemonstrated success managing large customer relationships and developing new business opportunitiesExperience working with distributors, channel partners, buying groups, manufacturing customers, or industrial products is strongly preferredExperience within construction products, fasteners, tools, manufacturing, industrial distribution, building materials, or related sectors would be considered an assetDemonstrated employment stability, ideally with multiple years of progression within the same organizationPrevious leadership experience is considered an assetValid passport and ability to travel within North America and internationallyWillingness and ability to travel approximately 30-40% of the time
