Senior Software Engineer Position Overview We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead the design, development, and delivery of high-quality software systems. We are a government contractor working with the DOW and Department of Communications. The ideal candidate will work across the full stack, help shape architecture and best practices, and drive reliability and performance for cloud-native applications. This role balances hands-on coding with technical leadership, mentoring, and collaboration with product, design, and operations teams to deliver scalable solutions. Key Responsibilities Design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure, and performant services using C++, Java, Python, and/or Node.js.Build and operate cloud-native applications leveraging Docker, Kubernetes, and public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).Develop microservices and APIs using Spring Boot and Node.js; ensure APIs are well-documented and versioned.Own CI/CD pipelines and automation (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or similar) to enable rapid, reliable releases.Collaborate with UI/UX designers and front-end engineers to deliver polished user experiences and ensure integration consistency.Perform and lead code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and champion engineering best practices and design patterns.Drive system architecture discussions, propose technical solutions, and evaluate trade-offs for performance, cost, and maintainability.Write and maintain automated tests (unit, integration, end-to-end) and participate in test strategy and quality initiatives.Troubleshoot and resolve production incidents, conduct post-incident reviews, and implement long-term fixes to improve reliability.Mentor and coach junior engineers, promote knowledge sharing, and contribute to hiring and onboarding processes.Qualifications Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.5+ years of professional software development experience; strong track record delivering production systems.Proficiency in C++, Java, and Python, with practical experience in Node.js and Spring Boot.Hands-on experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes) in production environments.Experience designing and operating CI/CD pipelines and release automation tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or equivalent).Practical cloud experience (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and familiarity with cloud-native patterns and services.Solid understanding of system design, distributed systems, performance tuning, and observability (monitoring, logging, tracing).Familiarity with UI/UX principles and collaborating with design teams to deliver intuitive front-end interactions.Strong testing discipline, debugging skills, and experience with automated testing frameworks.Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills; ability to mentor others and influence technical direction.Benefits - Health / Vision / Dental / Life Insurance - Supplemental Life Insurance - 401k contribution - Equity Incentive Plan - Performance Bonus - Vacation / PTO / Sick Days - Company Social Events - Employee Development Email Your Resume In Word To Katherine.Tempel@cybercoders.com Looking forward to receiving your resume through our website and going over the position with you.
