Job Description
Sponge Compliance is looking for Freelance Learning Experience Developers to support a comprehensive product upgrade of our compliance e-learning library.
The work will focus on building, configuring and technically developing digital compliance learning content, ensuring courses are functional, learner-centered, accessible, responsive, technically consistent and aligned to Sponge Compliance standards.
Working closely with internal team members across project management, learning design, visual design, quality assurance, development and production, the role will primarily focus on developing digital learning modules, building interactions, implementing content and design updates, and supporting quality checks across a larger product initiative in a professional, technical authoring tool called ELS.

Assignment overview
This assignment is required to support immediate and upcoming project needs and is expected to last approximately 2-3 months (ideally from now/Oct to Dec 2026) , with potential for further project-based work (on demand).Work will be connected to the Berlin-based Sponge Compliance team, with the ability to work from the Berlin office regularly and when required, particularly during onboarding and key project phases.German language skills are required at native or business-fluent level, paired with strong English communication skills.The role will work closely with existing internal team members to support pace, quality, consistency and technical delivery of e-learning lessons.
Job Responsibilities
What you will be doing
Building digital compliance learning content using Sponge Compliance’s in-house authoring software and frameworks.
Training will be provided on internal tools and systems (as the Authoring tool ELS).Implementing approved learning content, design and interaction updates across existing learning modules, including navigation, interactive elements, knowledge checks, assessments and learner activities.Translating approved scripts, storyboards, visual assets and review notes into accurate, functional digital learning experiences.Supporting the development of accessible, clear, responsive and learner-centered digital learning content.Testing course functionality, navigation, accessibility, responsiveness and technical consistency.Supporting handovers, review cycles, QA actions, version control and production documentation.Responding constructively to feedback and delivering agreed outputs to timeline within a structured project approach.This assignment would suit someone with
Experience building or technically developing digital learning content in a structured and technical production environment.Confidence working with digital learning technologies and standards such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, XML, SCORM, xAPI, LMS packaging and light technical troubleshooting.A good understanding of digital learning functionality, learner experience, responsiveness, accessibility and technical quality.The ability to take approved scripts, storyboards, visual assets and review notes and turn them into accurate, functional learning experiences.A mindset ready to work in a fast-paced environment across multiple learning lessons and languages.Strong attention to detail, especially when working across a high volume of course files, feedback and version updates.A calm, practical and collaborative approach, with confidence working alongside all stakeholders.The ability to work independently as a Freelance team member while staying closely aligned with an internal team.
