About The Role We are seeking a Web Software Developer II to join our team supporting the Department of Homeland Security's Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (DHS CISA). In this role, you will be instrumental in designing and developing web-accessible software solutions that facilitate critical infrastructure collaboration and enhance user engagement. Your responsibilities will include creating intuitive user interfaces, developing application features, and supporting web infrastructure to meet mission-critical requirements. You will collaborate closely with web administrators, designers, and technical teams throughout the software development lifecycle, gaining exposure to complex development tasks while working under guidance. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated developer to contribute to national security initiatives while expanding their technical expertise in a dynamic environment. Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, web development, or a related field, along with 2 to 4 years of relevant experience in web application development. Proven experience designing and developing web-accessible software, including user interfaces, reusable components, and new features, is essential. The candidate should have a strong ability to translate user needs and technical requirements into seamless navigation, information architecture, and consistent UI designs. Proficiency with web technologies such as CSS, JavaScript, HTML, Python, SQL, PHP, Perl, ASP, and C++ is required. Familiarity with cloud-native tools, wireframing, prototyping, and visual design tools is preferred. Knowledge of Section 508 accessibility standards and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) is necessary to ensure inclusive design. Experience with back-end database development, SQL queries, and CGI scripting is also important. The candidate must demonstrate excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams. Prior experience designing federal government applications, dashboards, geospatial interfaces, or data visualization tools is advantageous. DHS Trusted Tester certification is preferred. Candidates must be US citizens eligible to obtain and maintain a DHS Public Trust Clearance. Responsibilities The Web Software Developer II will support the modernization of CICP through comprehensive web software design, development, integration, and testing. Key responsibilities include: Designing and developing engaging, user-friendly web applications that meet business needs and improve legacy workflows.Collaborating with web administrators, designers, developers, analysts, and stakeholders throughout all phases of development.Creating wireframes, prototypes, and interaction designs to facilitate new features and application enhancements.Developing visually appealing and accessible graphical user interfaces aligned with CISA branding standards.Implementing, debugging, and maintaining application code using approved web technologies, ensuring reusability of interface components.Supporting web infrastructure development, including database back-ends and SQL queries via CGI scripting.Integrating web interfaces with application services, APIs, dashboards, geospatial tools, and enterprise visualization platforms.Ensuring compliance with Section 508 accessibility standards by testing keyboard navigation, contrast, labels, and assistive technology compatibility.Participating in agile planning, code reviews, and design reviews to maintain high-quality deliverables.Supporting testing activities, including usability, responsiveness, browser compatibility, and defect documentation.Coordinating with security teams to implement access controls, privacy measures, and secure handling of Protected Critical Infrastructure Information (PCII).Assisting in migration and deployment activities by reviewing interface readiness, validating workflows, and assessing user experience impacts.Reviewing application and front-end changes for conformance to design, security, and maintainability standards, resolving defects proactively.Maintaining comprehensive documentation of design assets, interface configurations, and user workflows to facilitate knowledge transfer and future enhancements.
