Applied AI Research Engineer (6-month contract + extension)

Strategic Staffing Solution's customer is a leading global investment banking, securities, and investment management firm. With over 150 years of experience, the firm provides financial services to corporations, financial institutions, governments, and individuals worldwide. Known for its strong culture of excellence, innovation, and client service, the company operates in all major financial centers. As its research team continues to grow, they are looking for an Applied AI Research Engineer to support AI and machine learning projects at the firm, including deep learning, natural language processing, information retrieval, time series analysis, recommender systems, and more. What you will do: Collaborate with colleagues to advance production machine-learning systems and applications. Work on defined business and technical problems using AI, machine learning, and LLM-based solutions. Design, develop, and test agentic systems and multi-agent workflows. Conceptualize, experiment with, and assess AI/ML-based software systems. Develop, test, and maintain high-quality, production-ready code. Take technical ownership of cross-team projects and contribute to key decisions. Create libraries and frameworks that support reliable and testable systems. Work with LLMs and modern AI models to develop practical solutions for production use. Represent the company at conferences and within open-source communities. What you will need: A Master's or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Engineering, Quantitative Finance, or equivalent relevant industry experience. 5+ years of industry experience demonstrating strong software engineering and AI/ML expertise. 3+ years of AI experience, or extensive ML experience.Hands-on experience with LLMs and agentic AI development. Experience developing software for quantitative investment workflows in equities, fixed income, or multi-asset strategies. Strong programming skills, preferably in Python. Experience with Java or C++ is also relevant. Experience taking AI/ML solutions into production is preferred.
