Senior Backend Engineer Berlin | Hybrid We’re working with an established technology business that is continuing to invest heavily in its engineering capabilities. They’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer with strong Python experience to join a collaborative product team and take ownership of important backend services and cloud infrastructure. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys building robust systems, improving performance and working closely with engineers across the wider product organisation. The Role You’ll play a key role in designing, developing and evolving backend services within a predominantly cloud-based environment. Your responsibilities will include: Designing and developing scalable backend services using Python and AWSBuilding efficient serverless applications and APIsWorking with technologies such as AWS Lambda, S3 and other AWS servicesDeveloping and maintaining APIs using frameworks such as FastAPI, Django or FlaskDesigning and optimising data solutions using PostgreSQL, DynamoDB and caching technologiesImproving application performance, reliability and scalabilityEstablishing and improving automated testing, including unit, integration and end-to-end testingContributing to CI/CD processes and engineering standardsWorking with modern dependency and package management approachesHelping maintain clean, well-documented and maintainable codebasesContributing to the architecture and integration of backend services with other parts of the wider technology ecosystemWorking closely with frontend engineers, QA, product, UX/UI and AI specialistsTaking an active role in an agile development environment and contributing ideas that improve how the team works What We’re Looking For We’re looking for an experienced backend engineer who enjoys solving technical problems and wants genuine ownership over the systems they build. You’ll ideally bring: 5+ years of professional backend development experienceStrong commercial experience with PythonExperience with TypeScript and/or JavaScriptHands-on experience building APIs and backend servicesExperience with frameworks such as FastAPI, Django, Flask or similarStrong knowledge of relational databases, particularly PostgreSQLExperience with NoSQL technologies such as DynamoDB would be beneficialGood understanding of AWS and cloud-based architecture, particularly serverless technologiesExperience with automated testing and modern software development practicesFamiliarity with CI/CD tooling such as GitHub ActionsExperience with modern Python dependency management tools such as Poetry, uv or pipA good understanding of software architecture, design patterns, scalability and performance is a mustExperience working within an agile engineering team What’s On Offer?
