About the opportunity
Via is partnering with a global SaaS technology business looking for an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to take ownership of its cloud infrastructure, reliability and deployment processes.
The platform is used by major international organisations, so reliability, scalability and security are central to the role.
You'll work closely with Engineering, QA and Security teams to maintain and improve a fast-moving AWS environment while helping shape how infrastructure and DevOps practices develop as the business grows.
This is a broad, hands-on position covering AWS, Linux, Docker, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, monitoring, incident management and site reliability engineering.
What you'll be doing
Design, maintain and improve scalable AWS cloud infrastructureDevelop and maintain monitoring and observability across the platformIdentify and investigate the root causes of infrastructure and performance issuesManage Linux-based systems, web servers and relational databasesWork with Nginx and MySQL, including performance optimisation and replicationBuild and manage containerised environments using DockerWork with Kubernetes or AWS ECS for container orchestration and scalabilityBuild and maintain infrastructure as code using TerraformDevelop and improve automated CI/CD pipelinesWork with AWS services including EC2, S3, RDS, CloudFront and OpenSearchOwn and improve incident management processesParticipate in on-call processes and lead effective postmortemsDefine and monitor SLOs and error budgetsImplement infrastructure security and DevSecOps best practicesManage areas including IAM, secrets, data protection and vulnerability managementSupport security and compliance requirements including GDPR and ISO standardsCollaborate closely with Engineering, QA and Security teamsDocument infrastructure, incident and deployment processesHelp shape technical standards and infrastructure strategy as the platform develops
What we're looking for
5+ years of experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, Systems Engineering, SRE or a closely related infrastructure roleStrong hands-on AWS experienceGood Linux systems administration knowledgeStrong experience with DockerExperience with Kubernetes and/or AWS ECSHands-on Terraform and infrastructure-as-code experienceExperience building or maintaining CI/CD pipelinesExperience with monitoring and observability tools such as Datadog or GrafanaGood understanding of web infrastructure and servers such as NginxExperience working with relational databases such as MySQLUnderstanding of database performance, reliability and replicationExperience troubleshooting complex production infrastructure issuesKnowledge of SRE practices including SLOs and error budgetsExperience with incident management and postmortemsGood understanding of cloud security, IAM, secrets management and data protectionConfidence working across infrastructure, engineering and security rather than within a narrowly defined specialismStrong communication skills and fluent EnglishComfortable working independently within a distributed, remote engineering team
Previous experience within a SaaS or other high-availability technology environment would be particularly valuable.
Experience with Puppet would be useful but isn't essential.
You don't need experience with every tool listed.
Strong DevOps, Platform or SRE engineers with solid AWS, Linux, containerisation and infrastructure-as-code experience are encouraged to apply.
