Full Stack Engineer

Hiring a full-stack developer We're looking for a full-stack developer for a health-tech startup gaining significant momentum. We want someone who’s comfortable in pre-product environments and can build the first version of the product, working directly with the founder and supervised by senior technical advisors. We initially need you to help us iterate and develop the MVP of our mobile app (details below). This is a part-time or freelance role, but if we hit it off, we’d like for you to continue in an ongoing, long-term role in our journey. About Vala Vala is an AI-health studio that moves members from data to direction. We marry blood biomarkers with continuous wearable data for the highest possible signal and insight, and bring a care team to facilitate the member journey. Context of the role We've reached first (pre-)paying users, are seeing top-tier performance levels (90th percentile) in paid acquisition, and are fast building business partnerships and a community of people seeking to understand their bodies better. Vala will primarily be available as a mobile app, possibly iOS only at the start. We’re about to begin user testing phases – shipping product demos to a closed, core group with which we collaborate to chart out functionalities, test value, learn, and repeat. With your help, we want to accelerate this process and deploy polished, beautiful products quicker; we want you to iterate, process what people are telling us, and sequentially tweak and upgrade the product as we work toward a robust product-market-fit, and reach the MVP (the final milestone for this work stream). Who we’re looking for You are a full-stack builder with a strong instinct who can turn product vision into a polished, engaging, working product. You developed mobile apps or digital products from scratch, and can learn, iterate and ship fast. You’re able to work autonomously, alongside the founder’s steering and direction. You bring method to the madness and, given we are a consumer health product, you know presentation is as important as the substance.
