Shangri-La Sydney is seeking an ambitious, commercially driven and relationship-focused Business Development Manager to identify, secure and grow new business opportunities across the Corporate, Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Events (MICE) segments. This is a high-impact role responsible for driving new revenue streams, expanding direct corporate partnerships and strengthening Shangri-La Sydney's position as the preferred luxury destination for accommodation, meetings, events and executive travel. Reporting to the Director of Sales & Events and Area Director of Sales & Marketing, you will play a critical role in growing market share through strategic business development, proactive account acquisition and commercial sales initiatives. Key Responsibilities Business Development & Revenue Growth Develop and execute targeted business development strategies to achieve and exceed revenue objectives. Identify, prospect and secure new direct corporate accounts, meetings and event opportunities. Generate incremental accommodation, conference, catering and event revenue through strategic account acquisition. Build a robust sales pipeline through proactive prospecting, networking and lead generation activities. Utilise Salesforce, LinkedIn Sales Navigator and other business intelligence tools to uncover new market opportunities. Corporate & MICE Sales Grow direct Corporate and MICE business while reducing reliance on intermediary channels. Develop relationships with key decision-makers, procurement managers, executive assistants and event planners. Conduct sales calls, presentations, networking activities and client site inspections. Negotiate commercial agreements and maximise account production through strategic account management. Drive meetings, conferences, incentives and corporate event opportunities across targeted industries. Market Engagement & Industry Presence Represent Shangri-La Sydney at industry events, trade shows, networking functions and client activations. Monitor market trends, competitor activity and emerging opportunities to inform sales strategies. Establish strong relationships with key industry stakeholders and business communities. Collaboration & Performance Work closely with Revenue Management, Events, Marketing and Operations teams to maximise conversion opportunities. Maintain accurate sales forecasts, pipeline management and account reporting through Salesforce. Deliver measurable commercial outcomes aligned with business objectives and annual sales targets. About You To be successful in this role, you will be a highly motivated sales professional with a proven ability to generate new business and build lasting client partnerships. Skills & Experience Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Hospitality Management, Commerce, Tourism or a related discipline. Minimum five years' experience in hospitality sales, business development, events, MICE or a related commercial role. Proven success in acquiring new business and growing revenue through strategic sales initiatives. Strong understanding of the corporate meetings, events and accommodation market. Demonstrated ability to prospect, negotiate and convert new business opportunities. Established corporate networks and industry relationships highly regarded. Strong commercial acumen with a focus on revenue generation and market share growth. Excellent communication, presentation and relationship management skills.
