Do you enjoy getting to the bottom of technical problems and keeping business-critical applications running reliably? Join Keylane’s LeanApps team and work hands-on with Oracle Database, WebLogic and Linux to support the software our insurance and pension customers depend on.
Key about your role
As a Technical Application Engineer, you help keep our customers’ LeanApps environments stable, secure and performing well.
You investigate production issues, understand what caused them and work with colleagues to deliver lasting solutions.
Your work connects the application with its underlying database, middleware and operating system.
You take ownership of operational issues, use automation to improve everyday processes and help prevent recurring problems.
You will:
Troubleshoot incidents across Oracle Database, WebLogic and Linux, including performance, connectivity and availability issues.Carry out application deployments, patching and upgrades, coordinating with colleagues to manage risk and minimise disruption.Monitor application health and capacity, identify recurring problems and contribute to preventive improvements.Support certificate renewals and application connectivity, working with platform, database and security specialists where needed.Automate routine tasks through scripting and keep documentation and runbooks practical and up to date.Work closely with development, platform and customer teams, sharing findings and communicating progress clearly.
Depending on your experience, you will also take the lead in complex incidents, guide colleagues and drive improvements to application reliability and our operational processes.

You will join the LeanApps Technical Application Management team within Keylane’s SaaS organisation.
Together, we manage the technical application environments used by our Life & Pension customers.
The team combines expertise in Linux, databases, middleware, automation and security.
You will work alongside experienced colleagues and collaborate with product development, platform teams and database specialists.

Key about you
You have solid experience in technical application management, infrastructure engineering or production application support.
You investigate issues methodically, take ownership and know when to involve specialist colleagues.You have hands-on experience with Oracle Database and Oracle WebLogic, including operational support and troubleshooting.
You are comfortable working with application deployments and investigating performance, connectivity and availability issues.You are confident working with Linux in production, including administration, patching and diagnosing system issues.
Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux is preferred.You use shell scripting or comparable scripting tools to automate operational tasks.
Experience with Python, Ansible or Puppet is a plus.You communicate clearly, collaborate well with development and infrastructure teams, and are keen to deepen and share your technical expertise.
You are willing to participate in the standby rota and planned maintenance outside regular office hours.
Experience with certificates, networking, security hardening or regulated environments is welcome, as is knowledge of insurance or pensions.
You can demonstrate your working level through relevant education or practical experience.
Using AI
You have used AI-assisted development tools, such as Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, GitHub Copilot or Cursor, in your work or your own projects.
You can explain how you have used them to explore solutions, understand unfamiliar code, develop or improve code and tests, troubleshoot issues, or support code reviews.You understand how AI-assisted development fits into the broader software development lifecycle.
You can guide coding assistants with clear requirements and context, including through reusable instructions, skills or agents where relevant.You critically review, test and debug AI-generated code.
You can identify incorrect assumptions, security vulnerabilities and maintainability issues, and you remain accountable for the logic, architecture, quality and security of what you deliver.Experience with CI/CD practices and integrating AI-assisted development into those workflows is a plus.
