Specialist Observability Platform Location: Utrecht, Netherlands Start: ASAP Contract: Until 30 September 2027 Client: Confidential enterprise client Working language: Dutch & English Role Overview We are looking for an experienced Observability Platform Specialist to take a technically leading role in the continued development of a large-scale central observability platform. You will work within an established Observability team supporting a large number of technology teams across a complex enterprise IT landscape. The environment includes Kubernetes/AKS, Azure, AWS, private hosting and low-code platforms. The role combines strong hands-on observability engineering with technical leadership, platform improvement, governance and stakeholder management. Key Responsibilities Provide technical direction for the development of the central observability platform. Design and implement scalable observability solutions across complex enterprise environments. Develop standards, best practices and self-service capabilities for engineering teams. Improve governance, tagging, sampling, Data Access Control and observability cost management. Support the controlled onboarding of teams and introduction of new platform functionality. Work closely with engineering teams, platform teams and external technology partners. Develop monitoring solutions that connect technical observability data with business and service impact. Drive improvements around automation, standardisation and platform scalability. Support and coach engineering teams in effectively using the observability platform. Promote knowledge sharing and technical best practices across the organisation. Core Requirements Strong experience designing, implementing and improving observability solutions in large-scale IT environments. Strong experience with observability tooling such as Datadog, Dynatrace, New Relic, Prometheus, Grafana, Loki or ELK. Datadog experience is highly preferred. Experience with automation and CI/CD tooling such as Terraform, Helm, Ansible and Azure Pipelines. Strong knowledge of Kubernetes/AKS, Azure and AWS. Experience across multiple cloud platforms and private hosting is advantageous. Ability to translate complex technical challenges into practical, scalable solutions. Comfortable working with both engineers and senior stakeholders/Product Owners. Proactive mindset with the ability to identify and initiate technical improvements. Strong communication skills in Dutch and English.
