Cloud DevOps Engineer
Location: Kraków, Poland
Working model: Hybrid — 6 days per month from the Kraków office
About the role
As a Cloud DevOps Engineer, you will work within an Agile team of Engineers and Operations professionals, building and managing highly resilient, scalable and high-performing GCP infrastructure in an automated and efficient way.
You will work closely with Application DevOps teams and cross-functional IT teams.
The role requires a proactive approach, a willingness to innovate and the ability to investigate and adopt new products and services offered by GCP to achieve maximum performance.
Key responsibilities
Build and manage the GCP foundation platform to enable application deployments.Engineer solutions on the GCP foundation platform using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) methods, such as Terraform.Integrate, configure, deploy and manage centrally provided cloud services, including IAM, networking, logging, operating systems and containers.Manage SDN in GCP.Consume centrally agreed Hardened OS environments, including Linux and Windows.Ensure compliance with centrally defined Security requirements.Ensure compliance with Operational Risk standards, including network, firewall, OS, logging, monitoring, availability and resiliency.Build and support Continuous Integration (CI), Continuous Delivery (CD) and Continuous Testing activities.Implement centrally provided patches.Support non-functional testing.Maintain support and operational documentation as required.Troubleshoot issues and provide support to Application teams.Ensure effective Change Management practices in line with central standards.Provide impact assessments for proposed changes to the GCP core platform.Participate in a rotational on-call schedule, providing out-of-hours support as part of our 24/7 coverage.Qualifications and experience
The ideal candidate will have:
Experience building a range of services with a Cloud Service Provider, ideally GCP.Expert understanding of DevOps principles and Infrastructure as Code concepts and techniques.Strong understanding of CI/CD and available tools.Experience configuring SDN within a Cloud Service Provider, including VPCs and XPN.Good understanding of physical networking, including subnets, NAT and routing.Knowledge of Security and Compliance, including IAM, ADFS, OAuth and cloud compliance, auditing and monitoring tools.Strong customer and stakeholder focus, with the ability to build strong relationships with Application teams and cross-functional, global and local IT teams.Good leadership and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in an Agile environment with Application DevOps pods and provide the GCP-specific capabilities required to deliver the service.Strong focus on operational effectiveness and delivering solutions aligned with approved design patterns and security standards.Strong risk management capabilities.Excellent skills in at least one of the following programming languages: Python, Ruby, Java, JavaScript, Go, Groovy or Scala.Experience with full automation and configuration management.A track record of continuously looking for ways to improve processes and a strong understanding of the mechanisms required to successfully implement change.Experience setting and achieving challenging short-, medium- and long-term goals that exceed standards in the field.Excellent written and spoken communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly and effectively to a wide range of audiences.The ability to build effective networks across business areas and develop relationships based on mutual trust.A successful track record of delivering complex projects and/or programmes using appropriate techniques and tools to ensure and measure success.A comprehensive understanding of risk management and proven experience ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory processes.Essential skills
Demonstrable Cloud Service Provider experience, ideally GCP, including infrastructure build and configuration of services such as Compute, Storage and SDN (VPC and XPN).Demonstrable experience in Linux administration and scripting, preferably Red Hat.Experience working with Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery and Continuous Testing tools.Experience working within an Agile environment.Programming experience in one or more of the following: Python, Ruby, Java, JavaScript, Go, Groovy or Scala.Server administration experience with either Linux or Windows.Experience with automation scripting using tools such as Terraform and Ansible.Ability to quickly acquire new skills and tools.Desirable skills
GCP Certifications, ideally Professional level.Linux Certification.Windows Server Certification.Experience working in a highly regulated industry, e.g.
