Description

Summary Do you want to help build some of the largest and most consequential enterprise and customer technology systems in the world? Join Apple’s Information Systems and Technology (IS&T) organization. IS&T is the engine behind everything Apple does for customers and for the people who build for them. It’s Apple’s central nervous system. Supporting 2.5 billion active Apple devices, processing billions of secure transactions, and keeping the technology that defines modern life running flawlessly, IS&T makes the impossible feel effortless.Do you love building solutions to handle global complexity and immense scale? Imagine what you could do here. Employee Experience and Productivity (EEP) is part of IS&T and delivers some of the most widely used communication and productivity technology and services across Apple — from tools that enable collaboration to the support teams that keep Apple's workforce running. EEP also leads user experience design and research, and manages the systems behind Apple's original content studios. Within this team is Employee Engagement & Engineering, a small, global team that quickly delivers with long-term vision, building durable, reliable systems meant to last. Our focus is on crafting high-quality, user-centred experiences — delivering AI and system interoperability to make every interaction intuitive, seamless, and genuinely useful for the people who rely on our tools. Description As a Full Stack Software Engineer, you will be a key contributor to web applications powered by Python, Java, and Rust backends, with frontends spanning React, Vue, and server-rendered templates, guiding technical direction across the stack. You take ownership of complex, ambiguous problems across the frontend, API, and data layers — including internal Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers that power AI and system interoperability — and you drive technical decisions that shape how these pieces work together. You operate with significant autonomy on complex work, applying best practices and critical judgment with minimal guidance. You identify opportunities to improve reliability, developer experience, and user-facing quality, and you extend your impact across related teams and cross-organization initiatives. The team's size means your technical decisions have direct, outsized impact on the applications thousands of Apple employees use every day. Responsibilities Guide the technical direction and implementation of complex features spanning microservices architecture (Python, Java, Rust) and frontend interfaces (React, Vue, or server-rendered templates).Design scalable APIs, data models, and service architectures — including internal MCP servers that expose tools and data to AI systemsDrive features through their full lifecycle: from concept and design through deployment and operational excellenceApply and help raise engineering best practices across the full stack — frontend architecture, API design, testing strategies, and performanceIdentify technical risks and dependencies early; develop mitigation strategies and drive resolutionMentor and share knowledge with colleagues across both frontend and backend disciplinesContribute to cross-organization initiatives, expanding your impact beyond the immediate teamPartner with product managers and stakeholders to inform roadmap priorities and technical directionLead post-incident reviews and drive improvements in reliability and operational qualityEvaluate and integrate AI services and capabilities — such as MCP-based tooling — to enhance the user experienceContribute to hiring: interview candidates, calibrate the technical bar across the stack Minimum Qualifications Proficiency in Python/Java for backend microservice development, with strong API design skillsFrontend experience with Typescript and a modern framework (React or Vue) and/or server-rendered templatesSolid knowledge of database design — relational and non-relationalSolid knowledge of containerization technologies and K8s Preferred Qualifications B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experienceExperience building highly scalable services using Rust.Experience building and operating production web applications at scaleExperience building MCP servers or other AI tooling and service integrationUnderstanding of RAG architecturesExperience with observability, monitoring, and site reliability practicesTrack record of driving engineering quality improvements across a teamExperience working within enterprise or internal platform environmentsStrong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across time zones At Apple, we believe accessibility is a fundamental human right.
