About the Role Peraton is seeking a Quality Assurance Automation Engineer to support the BASIS program team. The position follows an automation-first QA approach, with quality assurance activities automated across the deployment pipeline. You will develop, execute, and maintain automated testing for Agile sprint delivery and the Government-managed DevSecOps pipeline. Working with senior engineers, QA leads, software developers, and Government stakeholders, you will contribute to automated test coverage, requirements traceability, UAT activities, defect management, security testing, accessibility testing, and release quality. The role also supports DoD quality standards, including zero defects to production and compliance with DoDI 5000-87. This position is fully remote in the US. Key Responsibilities Develop, implement, and maintain automated unit, integration, regression, and end-to-end functional tests.Complete automated test cases within Agile sprint schedules for integration into the Government-managed DevSecOps pipeline.Support Test-Driven Development by creating test cases before code development in collaboration with software developers.Assess existing automation coverage and contribute to automation assessment reports and completion plans.Automate approved legacy test cases to expand regression coverage across the DEERS application portfolio.Develop and maintain Requirements Traceability Matrices at the end of development cycles and sprints.Support UAT planning, test scenarios, and test scripts for Government and external partner acceptance testing.Document test activities, results, and defects in the Government-provided Test Case Management System.Contribute to Testing Reports, Release Notes, and Software Version Descriptions.Participate in required code reviews at the 50%, 75%, and 90% development checkpoints.Monitor quality thresholds and support program quality standards.Triage and track defects in JIRA, including investigation, error replication, and escalation.Submit JIRA tickets and support weekly defect escalation reporting to customers and the Government Product Owner.Support application security scanning using Fortify, Sonatype, and BURP.Review and document code scan results before production releases and when applicable rule packs or STIGs change.Conduct accessibility testing against WCAG 2.0 Level AA and support Section 508 compliance activities.Assist with VPAT preparation, including test results, remediation reports, and conformance documentation.Support stress and load testing in the ProdSim environment and Disaster Recovery testing with technical and operations teams.Support Independent Verification & Validation of application changes in UAT before production deployment.Participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.Maintain sprint-level defect, test completion, and burn-down metrics in JIRA.Follow deployment pipeline standards and quality gates and contribute QA metrics to the Monthly Quality Status Report. Required Qualifications 2 years of experience with a BS/BA, 0 years with an MS/MA, or 6 years with a high school diploma.Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.IAM/IAT Level II certification, such as CompTIA Security+, SSCP, CompTIA CySA+, or GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC).Experience in software quality assurance, test automation, or software testing.Experience writing automated test scripts using an automation framework or scripting language such as Selenium, JUnit, TestNG, Python, Java, or equivalent.Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and DevSecOps principles.Basic experience with defect tracking tools, preferably JIRA.Understanding of unit, integration, regression, and user acceptance testing.Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking, with the ability to document test results accurately.Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with developers, QA leads, and Government stakeholders. Salary & Benefits The target salary range is $80,000–$128,000. Actual compensation is determined by factors including position responsibilities, experience, education, knowledge, skills, competencies, geographic location, and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may also be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
