With 20 years in the industry, we have grown a mature platform and a large, living codebase that serves operators across many regulated markets and processes real-money transactions every second. This is a platform engineering role, not just an endpoint role. You will design and implement features that span financial systems, bonus and jackpot mechanics, real-time delivery, and multi-tenant infrastructure across our three-layer architecture (Frame → AppBase → AppInstances). You will own work end to end, set the technical direction on your features, and help the developers around you grow. Responsibilities: Design and implement new game features, bonus systems, jackpot mechanics, and promotional tools across the full architectureBuild and maintain wallet integrations with third-party aggregators — signed HTTP protocols, retry logic, and idempotency guaranteesDevelop and operate long-running daemon services for transaction processing, game lifecycle, and real-time event deliveryOptimise queries and caching strategies across MariaDB, Memcached, and Redis for high-throughput financial operationsSafeguard data integrity through distributed locking, transaction-safety protocols, and multi-currency reconciliationWork within regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions (betting limits, geographic restrictions, tax compliance)Review code, mentor junior engineers, and help shape conventions and architectural decisionsQualifications: 5+ years of professional server-side development, with strong OOP, references, and regular-expression fluencyStrong SQL and relational database skills (MySQL/MariaDB) — query optimisation, transactions, and schema designComfort with direct database programming via DBI (no ORM)Solid understanding of caching systems (Memcached and/or Redis)Experience building and maintaining daemon/service processes on Linux or FreeBSDA deep understanding of HTTP, API design, and request signing/authenticationComfort working in a large, established codebase — reading and extending existing patterns rather than rewritingProficiency in Perl, which is the core of our platform; strong engineers from PHP, Python, Ruby, Java, or C# who are committed to working in Perl will be consideredAdvantages: Knowledge of multi-tenant architecture (per-tenant databases, config inheritance, namespace isolation)Experience with Plack/PSGI/Starman or Apache mod_perlFamiliarity with real-time/WebSocket systemsExperience with ClickHouse or other columnar analytics databasesFamiliarity with process supervision (daemontools/SVC) and version control (Git or Subversion)Familiarity with AI-assisted development toolsWe work on a large, high-traffic platform that reaches players worldwide, and we pair it with modern AI development tooling such as Claude Code, so you work in a current, efficient workflow while genuinely understanding the code you ship.
