HEAD OF ENGINEERING / FLEET ENGINEER – £60K–£70K Maximise your chances of a successful application to this job by ensuring your CV and skills are a good match. £60,000 – £70,000 per annum DOE Permanent Position 45 Hours per Week Responsibility for 2 depots Job Description Additional Hours / Overtime May Be Required Are you an experienced PSV engineering professional looking to step into a senior position with responsibility for engineering performance across two busy bus and coach operations? We are recruiting a Head of Engineering / Fleet Engineer for an established passenger transport business in Lancashire. This is a senior technical and operational position requiring a strong understanding of vehicle engineering alongside the realities of day-to-day bus and coach operations. Your Responsibilities Will Include Overseeing engineering performance across two depot locations Ensuring vehicles are maintained safely, reliably and to required standards Managing fleet maintenance, inspections, servicing and repair programmes Maximising fleet availability and supporting daily operational requirements Monitoring engineering compliance and maintenance documentation Providing technical leadership and support to workshop teams Managing engineering priorities, workload and vehicle downtime Supporting engineering budgets, cost control and maintenance expenditure Working closely with operational management to ensure service requirements are met Driving improvements in engineering standards, reliability and workshop performance Desired Skills And Experience To be considered, you should have: Significant experience within PSV, bus or coach engineering Previous experience in an engineering management, fleet engineering or senior supervisory position Strong technical knowledge of heavy commercial vehicles A good understanding of day-to-day bus and coach operations Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance and engineering compliance Good leadership, planning and problem-solving skills The ability to manage engineering activity across more than one location A PSV driving licence and Transport Manager CPC would be beneficial but are not essential. Candidates currently working as an Engineering Manager, Fleet Engineer, Head of Engineering, Chief Engineer or experienced Assistant Engineering Manager may be suitable. HOURS 45 hours per week. The position will be primarily based at the Bolton depot, with regular responsibility for the engineering operation in Chorley. Additional hours may occasionally be required depending on operational demands.
