CNC Machinist / CAD-CAM Programmer Kentin Engineering is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist / CNC Programmer to join our engineering and manufacturing team in Malaga. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys varied engineering work, problem-solving and taking jobs from a drawing or model through to a finished component. Kentin Engineering works across one-off components, prototypes, repair work and production machining, often involving close tolerances, complex components and a wide variety of materials. Success in this position means being able to confidently assess a job, determine an effective machining approach, program and set up CNC machinery, produce components accurately and efficiently, and maintain a high standard of workmanship from start to finish. Responsibilities Program, set up and operate CNC milling machines.Create CNC programs directly at the machine control, particularly on Haas CNC machines.Develop machining strategies for one-off, prototype and production components.Create and modify CNC programs using CAM software and machine controls where required.Learn and develop CNC programming skills on Siemens-controlled machinery, with training provided.Read and interpret engineering drawings, tolerances, GD&T and manufacturing specifications.Work from CAD models, drawings and existing components when required.Select appropriate tooling, workholding, cutting parameters and machining methods.Set up jobs including tools, fixtures, offsets and workpiece positioning.Manufacture components to specified dimensional and surface-finish requirements.Inspect completed work using appropriate precision measuring equipment.Troubleshoot machining, tooling, programming and manufacturing issues.Optimise existing programs and machining processes to improve efficiency and reliability.Assist with manufacturing planning and provide practical input into component design and manufacturability.Maintain accurate job, tooling and production information.Work collaboratively with the wider workshop team to ensure jobs are completed safely, accurately and on schedule.Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment. Qualifications & Experience We are looking for someone with strong practical machining knowledge who is comfortable working independently and taking ownership of machining jobs. Ideally, you will have: Previous experience as a CNC Machinist, CNC Programmer or similar manufacturing role.Strong CNC milling experience.The ability to create, edit and troubleshoot CNC programs directly on a Haas control.A good understanding of G-code, tool offsets, work offsets, canned cycles and CNC machining practices.Experience setting up CNC machines from drawing through to finished component.Experience with CAD/CAM software would be highly regarded.Previous Siemens CNC experience would be advantageous but is not essential, as training can be provided to the right candidate.A willingness and ability to learn Siemens CNC programming and machine controls.Strong understanding of machining processes, cutting tools, feeds and speeds, workholding and setup techniques.Ability to confidently read engineering drawings and work to close tolerances.Good understanding of dimensional inspection and precision measuring equipment.Strong mechanical and practical problem-solving skills.Ability to plan machining operations and take responsibility for a job from setup through to completion.Good attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality work.Ability to work both independently and as part of a small engineering team. A relevant Fitting & Machining qualification would be advantageous; however, practical machining ability and relevant industry experience will be highly valued.
