Electrical Engineer IV – Protection & Control
Job Type: 12-month Contract

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer IV – Protection & Control to support power system engineering and consulting projects across utility, transmission, distribution, generation, and industrial applications.
The engineer will be responsible for protection and control design, power system studies, relay settings, testing, commissioning, and customer-facing technical support.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop complex Protection & Control (P&C) solutions for electrical power systems and substations.Perform power system studies including load flow, short circuit, fault, arc flash, protection coordination, grounding, lightning protection, and insulation coordination.Develop and review relay settings, protection logic, control schemes, single-line diagrams, and communication configurations.Support substation automation and communication systems using protocols such as IEC 61850, DNP, and Modbus.Perform power system modeling and simulations using tools such as ETAP, SKM, ASPEN, CAPE, CDEGS, WinIGS, Mathcad, or MATLAB.Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), field testing, and commissioning activities.Participate in customer-site testing and troubleshooting using Doble, Omicron, or similar protection testing equipment.Support power system simulation and microgrid-related engineering activities, including RTDS or equivalent platforms.Prepare technical reports, engineering documentation, testing plans, SOWs, proposals, and engineering estimates.Participate in project meetings and communicate technical solutions directly with customers and project teams.Ensure engineering work complies with applicable industry standards, safety requirements, and quality procedures.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, or a related field, preferably with a Power Systems specialization.7+ years of experience in power system design, studies, analysis, Protection & Control, or related engineering.Strong understanding of power system protection, fault analysis, steady-state/transient analysis, and symmetrical components.Hands-on experience with power system analysis and engineering software.Experience with substation protection, automation, relay settings, testing, and commissioning.Strong technical writing, communication, problem-solving, and customer-facing skills.Professional engineering license (P.Eng.) is highly preferred.Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% for project and customer requirements.
