Join an AI-focused engineering team as a forward deployed engineer, working closely with recruiting and HR professionals to understand workflows and turn ambiguous business challenges into reliable technical solutions. You will design AI-powered automations, integrate with business systems, rapidly prototype ideas, and evolve successful experiments into production-grade features.
Highlights
Work directly with customers to solve complex operational problems, moving across discovery, prototyping, integrations, and production engineering. The role offers substantial ownership, fast experimentation, and direct influence on product development.
Description
HAIR Labs is building AI-powered products for recruiting and people operations.
We are looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer who can work directly with customers, understand complex HR workflows, and turn them into reliable product solutions.
This is not a traditional implementation or support role.
You will move between customer conversations, product discovery, prototyping, integrations, and production engineering.
Your work with early customers will directly influence what HAIR Labs becomes.
What you’ll do
- Work directly with recruiters, HR leaders, and hiring managers to understand their workflows and operational bottlenecks.
- Translate ambiguous business problems into clear technical solutions.
- Design, build, and deploy AI-powered recruiting and HR automations.
- Integrate HAIR Labs with ATS, HRIS, email, calendar, communication, and internal data systems.
- Build prototypes quickly and turn successful experiments into reliable production features.
- Configure workflows around candidate screening, interviews, communication, feedback, and people operations.
- Monitor deployed solutions, investigate failures, and continuously improve their performance.
- Bring customer insights back into the core product and engineering roadmap.
- Help define implementation standards, technical documentation, and best practices for future deployments.
What we’re looking for
- Strong software engineering experience with Python, TypeScript, or similar languages.
- Experience building API integrations, backend services, and data workflows.
- Practical understanding of databases, authentication, cloud infrastructure, and production systems.
- Experience working with LLMs, AI agents, or workflow automation.
- Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Comfort working with incomplete requirements and changing priorities.
- A product mindset: you care about solving the customer’s problem, not simply delivering the requested feature.
- Ownership from initial discovery through deployment and iteration.
Nice to have
- Experience with ATS, HRIS, recruiting platforms, or people operations.
- Experience implementing enterprise software for customers.
- Familiarity with LLM evaluation, prompt design, retrieval systems, and AI observability.
- Understanding of privacy, security, and responsible AI practices involving employee or candidate data.
- Previous experience in an early-stage startup, consulting, solutions engineering, or technical implementation role.
What success looks like
During your first months, you will:
- Build a deep understanding of customer recruiting and HR processes.
- Deploy working solutions for early design partners.
- Identify repeatable patterns that should become part of the core HAIR Labs platform.
- Reduce manual work without removing human judgment from important people decisions.
- Help establish how HAIR Labs works with and delivers value to customers.
