Description

SHAI (CY) Ltd is an AI-native automation platform. We build AI-first solutions across industries, starting from a deep first engagement in financial services (brokerage, fund administration, compliance) and expanding wherever we find a client and a problem worth solving. About the Role We are looking for a Senior Platform Engineer & Technical Lead to join our team in Limassol. You will take technical ownership of the platform architecture, lead its stabilization, and manage a team, ensuring strong technical direction and effective delivery. Your focus will be on building a robust, scalable platform where new workflows can be added primarily through configuration and content rather than fresh engineering, while ensuring the platform can withstand regulatory and client scrutiny. Responsibilities Architecture ownership · Define and freeze the platform skeleton: workflow definitions as data, instance state, transitions, events and audit trail. · Own the data model across departments (front office, compliance, back office, HR, etc) and the rules for how workflows share and isolate data. · Design and enforce the role-based access and need-to-know segregation layer, including the defects already identified in front-office review (downstream roles seeing client account details). · Set the integration pattern for external systems (execution venues, portfolio system of record, e-mail intake, OCR) so each connector follows one contract. · Decide, or confirm, the backend stack and the conventions the team commits to; record these as architecture decision records. Delivery leadership · Lead the engineers technically: code review, design review, sequencing of the remaining refactor, and a clear definition of when the refactor is finished. · Break the current rewrite into bounded, shippable increments so workflow delivery restarts within the first quarter rather than after it. · Work with the QA Engineer to establish automated test coverage for the engine and the matching/reconciliation logic, including partial fills, cancellations and multi-ticket cases. · Eliminate single points of failure: produce a module ownership map and ensure every critical module has a written handover and a second engineer who can operate it. Working with the AI layer · Define the boundary between deterministic workflow logic and AI agents: which decisions agents may take, which they may only propose, and how every agent action is logged with provenance. · Partner with the AI/Agent Engineer to integrate the agent runtime into the platform’s core controls. · Perform other duties and responsibilities as required by Management to support the needs and objectives of the business. Requirements · Good command of English. · Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field. · 8+ years of backend or platform engineering, at least 3 of them owning the architecture of a production system. · Have designed and shipped a workflow, statemachine, orchestration or case-management engine — BPM-style systems, order-management or ticketing platforms, or similar. · Strong data modelling and relational database design; comfortable reasoning about audit trails, event logs and immutable records. · Hands-on with a modern backend stack (Python or TypeScript/Node preferred) and containerised deployment. · Have led engineers technically: design and code review, conventions, and saying no to changes that re-open settled decisions. · Clear written communication — able to produce architecture decision records and handover documents others can act on. · Good problem-solving and communication skills. · Ability to work with both technical and non-technical teams. Nice to Have · Experience in a regulated environment (brokerage, banking, insurance, payments) with authorization, segregation of duties and audit-evidence requirements. · Experience integrating with financial market systems (execution venues, portfolio or custody systems, e-mail-driven intake). · Has worked alongside or built platforms that embed LLM agents, and holds a view on where deterministic logic ends and the model begins. · Experience taking a small team out of a refactor loop and back into delivery. We offer: Employment in AI-oriented firmCompetitive salary21 annual leave days, 5 sick days per year.Opportunity to work in an international environment with room for professional growth.Support in continuous development.
