About The Position
As Senior Cloud Engineer, you will provide technical leadership across the Guardians’ Microsoft Azure environment.
Sitting within the Cloud and Infrastructure team, you will lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure, reliable and cost-effective cloud solutions.
You will manage services across Infrastructure as a Service, Platform as a Service and Software as a Service, while helping shape our cloud strategy, security approach and future roadmap.
This is a hands-on senior role that combines cloud engineering with technical leadership.
You will mentor other cloud engineers, drive continuous improvement and work closely with teams across the Guardians and our external technology partners
What You’ll Do
Lead the design and implementation of scalable, reliable, secure and cost-effective cloud solutionsProvision, manage, monitor and decommission Microsoft Azure servers and servicesAct as a key point of contact for Azure IaaS, PaaS and SaaS servicesContribute to the Guardians’ cloud strategy, security approach and technology roadmapEstablish and maintain cloud governance, including access controls, resource tagging, budget management and regulatory complianceIdentify opportunities to improve cloud performance, resilience, automation, resource use and costApply infrastructure-as-code practices and support the development of self-healing and fault-tolerant servicesLead responses to critical cloud outages or security incidentsManage cloud service providers and vendor relationships against business requirements and service levelsProvide technical leadership, guidance and mentoring to other cloud engineersWork with internal teams and technology partners to deliver projects and new solutionsStay current with cloud technologies and lead knowledge-sharing across the team.
About You
Significant information technology experience, with a strong focus on cloud technologiesExtensive experience working within a Microsoft Azure environmentExperience designing and implementing secure, resilient cloud solutionsKnowledge of infrastructure-as-code practicesAdvanced cloud security capabilityExperience with self-healing and fault-tolerant servicesAn understanding of stateless and loosely coupled distributed applicationsFamiliarity with relational and non-relational databases, messaging and queuing API servicesStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with sound attention to detailThe ability to explain technical ideas in clear, business-friendly languageA customer-focused approach and experience delivering against service-level expectationsA constructive, collaborative style and the ability to build strong internal and external relationshipsExperience providing technical guidance or mentoring to other engineers
