Engineering Manager

Engineering Manager Our client builds commerce technology used by major retailers around the world, point of sale, mobile, self-service and back-of-store operations. It's an established, well-resourced global technology company with a strong footprint in the retail tech space. We're hiring Engineering Managers to lead teams building the next chapter of the platform: AI-native development tooling, an agentic platform layer, and a genuinely engineering-owned delivery model. There's no PMO running the schedule here, the engineering chain owns outcomes end to end, with Technical Program Managers, QA and DevOps supporting delivery rather than owning it. What you'll own: Delivery, quality and team health for one or more product areas Hiring, performance, coaching and the hard conversations for your team Enough technical depth to be useful in design reviews, debug production issues, and partner with Principal Engineers on standards Customer escalations and SLAs affecting your scope Must have: A strong engineering background with a track record of shipping production systems at scale Demonstrated leadership of engineers, as a manager, tech lead or staff/senior IC who's owned end-to-end delivery Comfort moving between architecture and the debugger, and between an exec review and a sprint standup, in the same day Working knowledge of modern Agile delivery, SDLC and CI/CD in a continuous-deployment environment A track record of owning a missed commitment without deflection, and recovering from a production incident This role spans a wide seniority range, matched to your experience, team size and product complexity.
