Software Engineer II (Backend / AWS) | Contract | Amsterdam, Netherlands 🚀 Join a large-scale cloud transformation programme that is redefining how millions of customer interactions are managed across voice, chat, email, and digital support channels. We're looking for experienced Software Engineers with strong AWS and backend engineering expertise to help deliver a modern, cloud-native customer service platform built on Amazon Connect and AWS technologies. This is an opportunity to work on a highly visible programme involving large-scale distributed systems, complex integrations, and enterprise-grade software engineering. Contract Details 12-month Independent Contractor contract€105 per hour + VAT on top40 hours per weekHybrid working2 days per week onsite in AmsterdamImmediate start preferred The Opportunity You'll join an established engineering team working on a multi-year transformation programme that is consolidating multiple customer communication platforms into a single AWS-based ecosystem. The programme is already live in production and continues to expand across additional channels, languages, integrations, and business areas. As a Software Engineer, you'll be responsible for designing, building, and operating scalable cloud services while contributing to architectural decisions, system reliability, and continuous improvement initiatives. What You'll Be Doing Design and develop backend applications and servicesBuild scalable cloud-native solutions on AWSDevelop event-driven and distributed systemsOwn services end-to-end, including monitoring and production supportParticipate in system design and architectural discussionsResolve production issues and improve system reliabilityCollaborate with Product, Engineering, and cross-functional teamsDrive code quality, automation, testing, and continuous improvement initiatives Required Skills ✅ Strong AWS experience (essential) ✅ Java development experience ✅ AWS Lambda ✅ Amazon S3 ✅ Event-driven architectures ✅ Distributed systems ✅ Cloud-native application development ✅ API and integration experience ✅ Strong software engineering and system design capability.
