They're now looking for a Cloud Engineer to take ownership of the reliability, resilience, and day-to-day operational performance of a critical eCommerce ecosystem. The role: This is a platform ownership role focused on ensuring a high-traffic retail environment remains reliable, secure, and scalable throughout the year, particularly during major trading events. You'll sit between Engineering, Operations, Digital, and third-party technology partners, taking responsibility for platform stability, incident management, observability, and operational governance. The environment centres around Shopify Plus, D365, and a wider integration landscape connecting key business systems. You'll focus on making sure platforms are operating effectively, releases are controlled, incidents are resolved quickly, and the business can trade with confidence. What you'll be working on: Owning the operational performance of a large-scale Shopify Plus ecosystemManaging release governance, change controls, and deployment readinessImproving observability, monitoring, alerting, and platform reliabilityLeading incident management, root cause analysis, and stability improvementsSupporting critical integrations across Shopify, ERP, and third-party platformsDefining service metrics, operational standards, and platform health reportingDriving improvements around resilience, recovery, and peak trading readinessManaging vendor relationships and escalations where requiredOverseeing security, access governance, and operational controlsCreating and maintaining operational runbooks, documentation, and support processes Skills & experience we're looking for: Platform, SRE, Infrastructure, or Operations experience within high-traffic digital environmentsStrong experience supporting eCommerce platformsProven incident management and operational leadership experienceExperience working with monitoring and observability tooling such as Datadog, New Relic, Grafana, Sentry, or similarStrong understanding of CI/CD processes, release governance, and deployment controlsExperience supporting complex platform integrations and business-critical servicesStrong stakeholder management skills, particularly during major incidents or trading eventsExperience driving service reliability, operational maturity, and process improvement Benefits include: 30 days holiday including bank holidaysBirthday offFlexible working arrangementsHealthcare cashback planPension schemeEmployee Assistance ProgrammeGenerous staff discountHoliday trading schemeProfessional development opportunitiesAdditional lifestyle and wellbeing benefits Working pattern: This role is hybrid working 2 days per week into Newcastle.
