As a Senior Data Engineer in our Data, AI, Loyalty and Analytics team, you’ll combine hands-on engineering with technical leadership. Using Python, SQL, dbt, Apache Airflow and Snowflake, you’ll design reliable data pipelines, models and reusable solutions that enable enterprise reporting, self-service analytics and emerging AI use cases. You won’t have direct reports, but you’ll guide engineering decisions, coach others and help strengthen how data solutions are delivered across Bunnings. You’ll be supported to test ideas, share knowledge and keep developing, with a team culture focused on Inspiring you to give it a red hot go. What’s Involved You’ll work across product and delivery teams to turn complex or evolving requirements into data solutions that are practical, scalable and easy to support. Along the way, you’ll have opportunities to: Lead the design and delivery of trusted data products for reporting, analytics and AI initiativesBuild production-ready pipelines and reusable transformation frameworksDesign dimensional, Data Vault and semantic models that make data easier to understand and useMake clear technical decisions across performance, cost, security, quality and reliabilityImprove automation across testing, deployment, monitoring and recoverySolve complex pipeline, performance and data-quality issuesStrengthen documentation, lineage, observability and operational readinessWork with architects, engineers, BI developers, data scientists and business stakeholdersCoach engineers through pairing, peer reviews, design guidance and knowledge sharingIdentify opportunities to simplify the data environment, reduce technical debt and improve developer productivity Your work will help teams access consistent, reliable information while supporting better experiences for customers and colleagues. About You You’re an experienced data engineer who enjoys staying close to the technology while helping others do their best work. You can bring structure to ambiguity, weigh technical trade-offs and explain your recommendations in a straightforward way. You’ll join a cross-functional team where open communication, practical problem-solving and shared ownership matter. You’re comfortable challenging ideas constructively, listening to different perspectives and building alignment around solutions that can be reused across the organisation. You care about engineering quality, but you also understand the importance of delivering value at pace. Curiosity, sound judgement and a willingness to share what you know will help you thrive in this role. What You’ll Need Significant experience in data engineering, ideally seven or more yearsAdvanced capability in Python, SQL and dbtStrong hands-on experience with Apache AirflowExperience designing and delivering production data solutions on cloud platforms such as SnowflakeStrong knowledge of dimensional modelling, Data Vault and modern data architectureExperience with CI/CD, automated testing, observability and source controlA track record of diagnosing complex data and pipeline issues and improving production reliabilityExperience providing technical leadership, mentoring engineers and influencing cross-functional stakeholdersUnderstanding of data governance, quality, lineage and metadata managementA relevant qualification or equivalent practical experienceExposure to Power BI, retail data, machine learning or AI-enabled analytics would be useful, but isn’t essential Ready to lead meaningful data work and help shape what comes next?
