Are you interested in contributing to the development of the next generation of truck engines? As an Engine Property Definition Engineer, you will translate customer expectations, legislation and technical developments into clear technical requirements for new engine concepts.
You will work on topics such as engine performance, fuel economy, emissions, diagnostics, torque, cooling and startability, while collaborating with multiple engineering disciplines to define and safeguard these properties.
What you will do
Develop an in-depth understanding of key engine performance properties and customer expectations.Investigate specific engine performance topics for different engine technologies using data analysis, simulations and technical investigations.Assess the technical impact of changes to engine and vehicle hardware, regulations and customer expectations.Support Property Owners with scope requests and failure investigations.Translate customer and vehicle requirements into clear technical requirements for the engine.Prepare and maintain the Product Description Book (PDB), the highest-level product requirements document.Collect input from Project Management, Product Planning and other stakeholders and monitor the status of scope requests.Ensure proper requirements traceability throughout the development organization.Manage stakeholder alignment around Property and PDB delivery milestones.Ensure relevant requirements are properly propagated throughout the development organization.
What we expect from you
A completed Master’s degree in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in engine performance development and engine testing.Good understanding of key engine performance topics, such as:Engine combustion, Turbocharging, Fuel economy, VECTO / GEM, Engine startability, Engine cooling, Torque & speed performanceStrong analytical skills and the ability to quickly understand complex technical topics.Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.Experience with requirements engineering / DNG is an advantage.Ability to create clear, high-quality presentations and communicate effectively with management.Ability to understand the bigger picture and translate technical challenges into practical solutions.
