Senior Software Engineer

Senior Software Engineer | Java & AI | UK | Remote | Up to £100,000 I’m working with a growing technology business building intelligent, cloud-native software products using modern AI, machine learning and data technologies. They’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer with strong Java experience to join a highly technical team working across backend engineering, APIs, cloud infrastructure and AI-driven applications. This is a hands-on role with genuine technical ownership, where you’ll have the opportunity to influence architecture, contribute to the product roadmap and work with emerging AI technologies. What you'll be doing: Design, develop and maintain scalable, reliable software.Build backend APIs and cloud-native services.Work on AI-driven products, including generative and agentic AI capabilities.Contribute to architectural decisions and technical direction.Design and develop RESTful APIs and distributed services.Work with cloud services, event-driven systems and data technologies.Contribute to technical POCs and new product development.Take ownership of features from initial requirements through to deployment.Participate in code reviews, technical discussions and design sessions.Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering best practices.Research new technologies and identify opportunities to improve products and processes.Support the growth of the engineering team through technical interviews and mentoring. What they're looking for: 10+ years of hands-on software development experience.Strong commercial experience with Java.Strong experience with Spring Boot / Spring ecosystem.Experience building cloud-native applications, ideally within AWS or another major cloud platform.Strong experience developing and deploying RESTful APIs and backend services.Experience developing applications involving AI, machine learning or Generative AI.Familiarity with agentic AI and modern AI application development.
