Description

Please note that for this role we are searching for someone who is already living in the Netherlands and is proficient in the use of the English language on C1 level. No use of the Dutch language is required but it is preferred. The energy transition needs you as a Senior Platform & DevOps Engineer The department System Operations is creating a smart grid, called Grid-As-A-Service (GaaS), built on Siemens GridScaleX platform. This system is used by Alliander, but will eventually run at external grid operators (DSOs) as well.   Within System Operations you'll join the PMSO (process monitoring System Operations) team. The team's roots are in observability (Elastic, OpenTelemetry, APM). Its scope is now extended to include platform (CI/CD, GitOps, developer tooling, pipeline security), which is where your focus will be.   The organization runs GitOps deployments via ArgoCD (App-of-Apps pattern), Helm, GitHub Actions, Python/Java tooling, AWS, Elastic, Open Telemetry, and Terraform.  The role splits roughly between: Building & evolving: modernizing CI/CD pipelines, GitOps workflows, and internal CLI tooling for manifest generation and deployment validation Security & compliance: embedding image scanning, secrets management, and access policies into pipelines without slowing developers down Operational rotation: weekly on-call ("OPSer of the Week") triaging pipeline and cluster issues, and translating developer feature requests into formal RFCs for the platform vendor Scaling: helping architect delivery-as-code patterns to extend the platform to external grid operators Maintenance Besides development, the above has to be kept up to date, since security is an important topic for Alliander.
