Staff Software Engineer

About The Role PEI Group is looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our engineering team in New York. You'll work closely with engineers across PEI Group build out the next generation of our global infrastructure: the platforms and services that power our application across regions and teams. This is a hands-on technical role. You'll shape architecture and help set engineering standards. Responsibilities: Design, build, and operate backend services and infrastructure that scale across PEI Group's global footprintShape system architecture for the next generation of PEI's global platforms and services, working across regions and teamsWrite clear technical specifications up front and drive work from spec through implementation, testing, and releasePartner with product, platform, and engineering leads to translate business needs into well-scoped technical plansHelp set and raise engineering standards and best practices across the engineering teamLead design discussions and explain technical trade-offs clearly to both engineers and non-technical stakeholdersStay hands-on in the codebase, contributing across the stack using languages such as Node.js, TypeScript, NestJS, PHP, and PythonImprove the reliability and visibility of services through strong use of observability tooling About You 5+ years of professional software engineering experienceExperience working with a variety of programming languages including node.js, TypeScript, NestJS, PHP, and PythonUnderstanding of observability toolingStrong communication skills: you can write a clear spec, lead a design discussion, and explain trade-offs to non-engineers.Experience with TypeScript, Cloud Platform CWS, infrastructure-as-code, spec-driven development, and Headless CMS is highly desirable.
