Description

For our client, we are seeking a Software Engineer II, Backend (Identity Decisioning) to join the team of a leader in the Finance & Insurance space. This role will focus on backend software development within a fast-moving decisioning environment, supporting systems that help power reliable, scalable financial services experiences. The engineer will partner closely with product managers, designers, and analysts to break down complex work, contribute to technical direction, and deliver high-quality solutions. Success in this position will also involve maintaining system availability, monitoring operational metrics, and collaborating effectively across teams in a large codebase. Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available Compensation: $146,000 – $225,000 annually Responsibilities Break down larger projects into manageable tasks and ensure timely delivery Collaborate with product managers, designers, and analysts throughout the product development lifecycle Create and monitor operational metrics, and participate in on-call responsibilities to maintain system availability Engage in team community building, including participation in the interview process Participate in technical discussions on design and product ideation, articulating technical constraints Qualifications 1.5+ years of software engineering experience Proficient in backend development using Python or Kotlin Familiarity with distributed systems and technologies like AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes Ability to produce clear, tested, and maintainable code that integrates multiple software components Experience in debugging and collaborating on a large codebase Proactive in seeking personal growth and feedback from peers and managers Effective verbal and written communication skills for collaboration across teams Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience Benefits 100% health coverage for employees and their dependents Monthly stipends for tech setup and health/wellness options Flexible time off and generous holiday calendar Employee stock purchase plan (ESPP) allowing stock purchase at a discount Remote-first working model with flexibility for most roles Our client is an equal opportunity employer.
