About The Role We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Platform Architect (m/w/d) specializing in OpenStack and VMware to join our team remotely. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the strategic development and technical evolution of our multi-tenant cloud platforms. As the top technical authority within our cloud engineering team, you will design, optimize, and expand our cloud infrastructure, ensuring it meets the evolving needs of our clients and aligns with our long-term architectural vision. Your expertise will contribute to shaping the future of our cloud services, supporting the deployment of new offerings, and maintaining the highest standards of security, scalability, and performance. Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a degree in computer science or a comparable qualification, coupled with extensive experience in designing and operating complex cloud and data center infrastructures. You should have at least three years of experience specifically in designing multi-tenant platforms and a deep understanding of OpenStack and/or VMware environments, including vSphere, NSX, vSAN, and vCloud Director. Strong knowledge of data center network architecture, enterprise storage solutions, and security concepts is essential. Experience with automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and APIs, along with excellent communication skills in German and English, is required. Relevant certifications are advantageous and will be considered favorably. Responsibilities Architect and continuously improve our multi-tenant cloud platforms based on OpenStack and VMware technologies.Design comprehensive data center, network, and security architectures, including backbone infrastructure, firewalls, and segmentation strategies.Develop and integrate network, security, storage, and compute components to ensure seamless operation and scalability.Create detailed platform blueprints, operational concepts, and scaling models to support growth and innovation.Perform sizing and capacity planning for compute, storage, and network resources to optimize performance and cost-efficiency.Design and implement new cloud services, actively contributing to expanding our service portfolio.Evaluate emerging technologies for potential integration into our platform, ensuring we remain at the technological forefront.Provide presales support through technical architecture design, capacity planning, and effort estimation, dedicating approximately 10-15% of your time.Maintain comprehensive architecture documentation, standards, and guidelines to ensure consistency and compliance.Serve as a technical sparring partner for engineers, consultants, and team leads, fostering knowledge sharing and best practices.Participate in on-call rotations to ensure high availability and rapid response to platform issues.
