As Senior Mechanical Engineer, you own key parts of the robot's mechanical design: structures, materials, and the integration of actuators and transmissions. You work from concept through to hands-on prototyping and field testing. As an early hire, you can grow into leading an area such as structures or actuator integration as the team scales. What you'll doOwn structural design and material selection against stiffness, weight, thermal, environmental, and safety requirements.Own the integration of actuators and transmissions into the robot structure, and contribute to their selection.Design for hazardous environments from the start: sealing, ingress protection, and the mechanical requirements of ATEX and IECEx certification.Design harness routing and protection together with the electrical team.Contribute to the mechanical architecture, make-versus-buy decisions, and the roadmap toward a certified, scalable product.Prototype, assemble, and test hardware yourself.Support field tests and customer demonstrations, and turn the findings into design improvements. What you'll bring5+ years of mechanical engineering experience in robotics or a related field such as aerospace or motorsport.Parts and assemblies you have taken from concept through manufacturing into a product used in the field.Strong CAD and structural FEA skills, and experience designing for specific manufacturing methods.Experience designing highly stressed components and assemblies with moving parts and dynamic loads.Solid knowledge of materials: metal alloys, composites, and engineering polymers.Engineering documentation that others can build on.Fluent English; German is a plus.Willingness to travel for field tests and customer demonstrations.Nice to haveATEX, IECEx, or comparable certification experience.Design experience for harsh environments: sealing, corrosion, high temperature.Experience with actuators, gearboxes, or transmissions for robotics.Experience working with suppliers and manufacturing partners in Germany or Europe.Compensation and benefitsWe believe that those working on life-saving missions should share in the success of that mission.
